[A] Bounties from Allaah!

Allaah (The Most High) said:

Neither those who disbelieve among the people of the Scripture nor Al-Mushrikun (the disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, idolaters, polytheists, pagans, etc.) like that there should be sent down unto you any good from your Lord. But Allah chooses for His Mercy whom He wills. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.

Reminders from Imaam Sadi (rahimahullaah)

They do not want good to be sent down unto the Muslims from their Lord-be it little or plentiful-out of envy and enmity; however Allaah chooses for His Bounty and He is the Owner of Great Bounty. And from Allaah’s Bounties bestowed upon the Muslims is that He sent down the Qur’aan unto the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) in order to sanctify the Muslims, and teach them the Book (the Qur’an) and the Hikmah (i.e. authentic Sunnah, Islamic laws and Fiqh – jurisprudence), and teach them that which they did not used to know.

And from the benefits;

It is obligatory for the slave if he falls into sin, that he hastens to repentance and confession and he says that which the two parents (Aadam and Hawaa) said, with a sincere heart and turning repentantly (to Allah); for Allah did not narrate to us the description of their repentance except that we emulate them; so that we are successful with happiness and saved from destruction.

From the benefits of the story of Aadam (alayhis salaam) – Imaam As-Sa’dee

Whosoever Allah blesses with knowledge then he recognises and acknowledges the blessing of Allah upon him and he says just as the Angels and the Prophets said:

قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَا إِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ

They (angels) said: “Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except what you have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise.”

And he ceases talking about that which he does not know. For indeed knowledge is the greatest of blessings and (the slave) gives thanks for this blessing by recognising and acknowledging Allah with it.

And he praises Him by teaching it (knowledge) and teaching the ignorant and stopping upon that which the slave has learnt, and remaining silent about what he hasn’t learnt.

Heedless of Allaah and his desires are his god – Shaykh Uthaymeen and Shaykh As-Sa’di

Shaykh Uthaymeen warned:

If you see your time and life pass by, and you have not produced anything worthwhile or beneficial, and you do not find any blessing in your time then be wary that the statement of Allah has overcome you:

“And obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our Remembrance, one who follows his own lusts and whose affair (deeds) has been lost.” Al-Kahf: 28 [Ref 1]

And in this ayah is an indication of the importance of the heart’s presence when performing dhikr of Allaah. And that the person who remembers Allah with [only] his tongue and not his heart, [then] the barakah [blessing] is removed from his actions and his time to the extent that his deeds become lost.[Ref 2]

Imam As-Sa’di -rahimahullah- said about this verse in his tafseer. [The one who is] heedless of Allaah then his recompense is that Allah has made him heedless of His remembrance. “Who follows his own lusts” – whatever his soul desires he does and he strives in its attainment, even if it was to his destruction and loss. [If that occurs] then verily he has taken his desires as his god, as Allah the Most High said:

“Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilah (god), and Allah knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allah? Will you not then remember?” Soorah Al-Jathiya:23[Ref 3]
