Fitnah is Inevitable – Shaykh Muqbil (rahimahullah)

Al-Allaamah Al-Muhaddith Muqbil ibn Hadi Al-Waadi’ee (rahimahullah) stated regarding fitnah,

It’s inevitable that there will be trials, tribulations and tests, Allah (The Mighty and Majestic) says,

We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good (21:35)

That which is important is to remain patient and firm (during fitnah).

He Thinks Allah Dislikes Him – Shaykh Ahmad an-Najmee

Shaykh Ahmad an-Najmee (rahimahullah) said:
In the hadeeth of Anas (radiaAllaahu anhu):

“If Allah wills good for His slave, He hastens his punishment in this world, and if He wills bad for His slave, He withholds from him (the punishment for) his sin, until He requites him for it on the Day of Resurrection.” [Tirmidhi, Authenticated by Al-Albaani]

This hadeeth informs [us] that a servant [of Allaah] is afflicted with adversities and continually [tested] with calamities, so he thinks this is [because] Allah dislikes him, whilst this is not the case; rather it maybe that Allah loves him and wants to test him with trials, so that he appears on the day of resurrection and [the trials he went through in the worldly life becomes a means of] reducing [his] sins.

Trials Distinguish The Truthful Ones From The Liars- By Shaikh Fawzaan

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan stated, “Clear distinction is not attained except when trials and tribulations occur, the true believers are then firm and steadfast while the deceptive hypocrites stumble.”

Sharh Kitaabul Kabaa’ir 554-555

Shaykh Fawzaan (Allah preserve him) explains trials and tribulations further in his explanation of the famous hadeeth of Hudhayfah ibnul Yamaan (Allah be pleased with him) read below.

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Indeed Allaah pre-decreed and ordained that the creation will be visited by tribulations, trails and tests, in order that the truthful one is distinguished from the hypocrite. He (The Most High) said:

الم

أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَنْ يُتْرَكُوا أَنْ يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ

“Alif-Laam-Meem. Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: ‘’We believe,’’ and will not be tested. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allaah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood) of those who are liars, (although Allaah knows all that before putting them to test)’’ 29:1-3

Fitnah is a test. The human being will not be left alone because he says: I believe, I submit, I am a Muslim, I am a believer….he must be tried and tested. If he exercises patience and firmly holds onto his Eemaan at the (time) of tribulations, then indeed he is the one truthful to his Eemaan. If he deviates at the (time) of tribulations and turns away from his Religion, then this one is not truthful to his Eemaan.  He is a hypocrite (i.e. he testifies to Imaan with his tongue and hides disbelief in his heart), as Allaah (The Most High) said:

‘’And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: “We believe in Allaah and the Last Day” while in fact they believe not. They (think to) deceive Allaah and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not! In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allaah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies’’. 2:8-10

This is the Sunnah (Way) of Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic).  He (The Mighty and Majestic) said:

‘’Allaah will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now, until He distinguishes the wicked from the good. Nor will Allaah disclose to you the secrets of the Ghaib (unseen), but Allaah chooses of His Messengers whom He pleases. So believe in Allaah and His Messengers. And if you believe and fear Allaah, then for you there is a great reward’’. 3:179

Allaah causes trials and tests to occur upon the people- upon the Muslims and the believers- in order to distinguish the truthful one from the liar, the true believer from the hypocritical liar, and the good one from the wicked one. This is from the Wisdom of Allaah (Glorified and Exalted Be He).  Fitan (trials) will come to pass upon the people as a result of this Wisdom (of Allaah).  If trials do not occur, then truth will be confounded with falsehood–the believer will be confused for the hypocrite, and there will not be a distinction between this one and that one.

The Shaikh also said:

A person is neither to lose hope nor despair, (and) he is not to make the people lose hope of a return to goodness. He should not make the people lose hope with regards to (the fact) that truth will prevail and falsehood will be repelled; because Allaah (Glorified and Exalted Be He) has made that promise and He does not fail to fulfill His promise. Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said: ‘’The Religion is aided when put to the test; therefore do not be amazed for this is the way of Ar-Rahmaan (The Most Merciful).’’ Allaah said:

‘’And so are the days (good and not so good), We give to men by turns, that Allaah may test those who believe, and that He may take martyrs from among you. And Allaah likes not the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers). And that Allaah may test (or purify) the believers (from sins) and destroy the disbelievers’’ 3:140-141

This is the wisdom behind the occurrence of trials and tribulations–so that the believers are purified, and so that they are made to exercise patience, firm upon the truth and cautioned for their mistakes, and in order that they may repent to Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) and (so that) the kuffaar are destroyed. Therefore, (trials and tribulations) is purification for the believers and destruction for the kuffaar and all praise be to Allaah. It is obligated on the Muslim that he looks at (the affairs) with optimism–he neither looks at history and the state of affairs with pessimism and hopelessness nor make the people lose hope. It has been reported in a hadeeth: ‘’whoever says: the people are ruined, then he himself is ruined’’(Muslim) Therefore, the person neither loses hope in Allaah’s Mercy nor does he make people lose hope of solace from Allaah.  [Source: Booklet published by Daar Imaam Ahmad 1426/2005. Protection from trials and tribulation – Shaykh Fawzaan

We advise you firstly with the taqwa of Allah and making plentiful supplication that Allah makes us and you firm upon the religion of islaam. And that he protects us and you from the evil of trials and tribulation. Then we advise you to seek knowledge from the ppl of knowledge and being ardent upon that. For indeed nothing protects from fitnah -by the permission of Allaah- except correct knowledge.

But if there is no correct knowledge then maybe you will fall into trials and you will not realise, and you will not know that they are trials. Therefore upon you (all) is to seek knowledge from ahlul ilm and not to be lackadaisical about seeking knowledge however you are able.

Is Shisha Halal or Haram? – Permanent Committee of Scholars

Many of the Muslims young and old have fallen into the fitnah of smoking; and in recent times the fitnah of “Shisha” has spread exponentially, so much so we would be hard pressed if we did not know or know of someone who has not been affected by this evil.

And many are deceived by Shaytaan and attempt to make a distinction between smoking of cigarettes and shisha.

May Allah protect us from being deceived by the accursed Shaytaan and following our desires in opposition to the truth.

The Permanent Committee of Scholars said:

Shisha, hookah and smoking are from the khabaa’ith (evil, unlawful things) and they are haraam (prohibited), due to that which they contain of harm to the body and to the wealth.

And Allah the Most High said in description of his Prophet Muhammad

And He allows them as lawful At-Taiyibat [(i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.], and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khaba’ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.)

Surah Al-A’raaf Verse 157

And it is affirmed upon the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) that he said:

” There should be neither harming not reciprocating harm”

Therefore it is impermissible to use these things, to sell them or to promote them.

Part 4: Ali Halabi’s Long Journey (may Allaah guide him)

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Abul Wafaa Ibnu Aqeel (rahimahullaah) said: ”Whoever pronounces his creed based upon proofs, then unsteadiness will not remain with him due to the differences of opinion regarding the state of affairs of men.’’

Ali Halabi (The Innovator) and the Fitnah of Abul Hasan Al-Maribi (The Innovator)

Between pages 20-25 in Arabic PDF (revised and read by Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee al-Madkhalee), the author discusses the Fitnah of Abul Hasan Al-Maribi and the two facedness of Ali Halabi during the Fitnah, which finally led him to deviation. So we will abridge and paraphrase the discussion. For further details download PDF here: http://www.sahab.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=122127

There came about the fitnah of Al-Maribi and his innovations in opposition to the methodology of the Salafus Saaleh (i.e. the pious predecessors). However, before the Fitnah of Al-Maribi became manifested, there were observations on his book titled [Siraaj Al-Wahhaaj], and this took place during the lifetime of the three Imaams [Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz, Muhammad Nasiruddeen Al-Albaanee and Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahumullaah)].

Al-Maribi was already promoting his innovations on the subject matter of passing judgments against deviated individuals and the position towards those in opposition to the Book, The Sunnah and understanding of the pious predecessors.  He wished to make this book of his a methodology for the salafis in this time, so he embark upon seeking the recommendations of the major scholars, especially from Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah). Imaam Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) passed the book to the present Mufti Al-Allaamah Abdul Azeez Aala Shaikh (hafidha-hullaah) who carried out his observations on the book and referred them back to Imaam Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah). However, Imaam Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) passed away and Abul Hasan did not obtain what he wanted. Indeed Allaah has full control and power over His Affairs.

Indeed, it was Al-Maribi who kindled the fitnah between the salafis after the fitnah of Adnaan Ar’oor. He intended by way of his book a warning against the methodology of Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee (hafidha-hullaah), which he described as excessive. The evidence showing Al-Maribi as the initiator of the Fitnah is due to the fact that he defended the people of falsehood and innovations in his book, especially the leaders of Ikhwaan Al-Muslimeen, which he titled: A defense of the people of Ittibaa [i.e. a defense of the people who follow the correct path of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah].

Al-Maribi himself said that he rejected/disapproved the methodology of Shaikh Rabee in his book Siraaj al-Wahhaaj few years ago before the clear and final manifestation of his differences with Shaikh Rabee, and that this book of his was written in the year 1418AH and has been reprinted thrice.  Al-Maribi also acknowledged that Shaikh Rabee did refute him in his Book titled: ”Intiqaad Aqadee Alaa Siraaj Al-Wahhaaj, and that Shaikh Rabee himself said: ”Indeed, when I received the book (Siraaj Al-Wahhaaj), I knew that he (Al-Maribi) intended me (i.e. a warning against me in a number of descriptions in relation to extremism, which he said I fell into.”
