The Comprehensive Message

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

Muhammad’s, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, Ummah is not in need of anyone after him; rather the only need they have is someone to convey what he came with.

Muhammad’s message is comprehensive, universal and preserved. This universality, comprehensiveness and preservation is not limited to (any time, place or situation), rather it is comprehensive for those to whom Muhammad was sent [the whole world] and likewise with regards to everything that is needed in the fundamental and subsidiary issues of the religion.

Muhammad’s message is sufficient, all embracing and universal- nothing else is needed besides it. It has not isolated any affair of truth needed by his Ummah in their sciences and deeds. The Messenger of Allah did not leave this world until he acquainted his Ummah with everything. He even taught them the etiquettes of using the toilet; the etiquettes of sexual relations; the etiquettes of sleep and after waking up; the etiquettes of eating, drinking and travel.

He acquainted them with the etiquettes of speech and silence; the etiquettes of keeping company with the people and seclusion. He acquainted them with the affairs of illness, good health, poverty and wealth. He acquainted them with all the affairs of life and death. He described Allah’s throne, the angels, the jinn, the hell fire and the day of judgement in such a manner as if one has seen them with the naked eye. He informed them about their Lord and His Perfect Names and Attributes, and that Allah alone is their true object of worship.

He acquainted them with the Prophets of old and their nations – the events that took place between them and their nations – in such a manner as if one was present at that time. He acquainted them with all the means to good and the paths of evil- in general and in detail- which no other prophet informed his nation. He acquainted them with death and what will take place in the grave – either bliss or punishment. He acquainted them with the evidences and proofs of Tawhid [i.e. the oneness of Allah in His Lordship, Names and Attributes, and that Allah alone has the right to be worshipped].

He acquainted them with Prophet hood and the affairs of the Afterlife, and he refuted all the sects of disbelief and misguidance. He acquainted them with war strategies- how to confront the enemy, the way to achieve victory and conquests. If only they knew and understood these affairs in the correct manner [i.e. the manner it should be understood], they would not be overcome by their enemy. He acquainted them with the plots of Iblees and the ways through which he approaches them, and the ways to repel those plots and plans. He acquainted them with the soul- its characteristics and faults- in such a manner that they are not in need of anyone else to tell them about it. He taught them how to live their daily lives and had they acknowledged and acted upon this; their worldly affairs would be firmly established. He brought them all the means of success in this life and the next, and they do not need anyone besides him. So how can it be said that the path of Muhammad is in need of something else outside of it. The reason for such a claim is due to the weak and little understanding of a person. Allah [The Most High] said:

أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِهِمْ أَنَّا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَرَحْمَةً وَذِكْرَىٰ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur’an) which is recited to them? Verily, herein is mercy and a reminder (or an admonition) for a people who believe.

Allah [The Most High] said:

وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ تِبْيَانًا لِّكُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ

And We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur’an) as an exposition of everything, a guidance, a mercy, and glad tidings for those who have submitted themselves (to Allah as Muslims).

Allah [The Most High] said:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُم مَّوْعِظَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَشِفَاءٌ لِّمَا فِي الصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

O mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord (i.e. the Qur’an, ordering all that is good and forbidding all that is evil), and a healing for that (disease of ignorance, doubt, hypocrisy and differences, etc.) in your breasts, – a guidance and a mercy (explaining lawful and unlawful things, etc.) for the believers.

Reflections from some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al Mad’khali [32 of 80]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Excerpt From a Lesson of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Mad’khali – may Allah preserve him:

Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali, may Allah preserve him, was asked: Some accuse the Salafi Dawah in our time of being harsh, and that it is incumbent upon the callers to be gentle with the people of Bidah. Is this correct, and what should be the response to them whilst bearing in mind that the time at present is different from the previous one and men in this time are different from previous men? May Allah reward you with good.

Response: This behaviour -attacking the Salafis of harshness – is not new, but rather it is an old affair. From the time of (Imam) Ahmad ibn Hanbal, before and after him to this day, the people of falsehood cannot confront the people of truth except through misrepresentation (distortion). There are many misrepresentations (distortions), and not only (the false accusation of) harshness. The misrepresentations are many, and their accusation of harshness is nothing but one of many thoughts. Surely, they will accuse them of being Khawaarij (1), Mujassimah, and Mushabbihah. (2) Every (deviant) group accuses them (Salafis) of something by way of which the deviant group’s corrupt creed can be disapproved.

The Jahmiyyah (2.1) call them Mushabbihah and Mujassimah because they affirm Allah’s Attributes that are in His Book (i.e. The Qur’an) and the Sunnah of His Prophet [may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and they affirm them in the manner that is befitting for Allah [The Blessed and Most High]. The Khawaarij and Mutazilah (3) accuse them of being Murji’ah (4), and the Rafidah (5) accuse them of being Nawasib (6) because they do not exaggerate in the manner they exaggerate the status of the Prophet’s family and so on. Meaning, my beloved brother, that they accuse them of harshness, (that they are the government) stooges, and spies, and that they are scholars whose knowledge is restricted to rulings on menstruation and postpartum, and other evil accusations that are presented by the callers to evil, falsehood and misguidance. So, there is nothing else other than that Salafis carry on explaining their call to the path of Allah with clear-sightedness. At the same time, they must have lofty manners such as patience, forbearance, wisdom, and other good and noble qualities that are compatible with this great Dawah. Alongside this, they train themselves to exercise patience while encountering what is said about them, and let them take as their role models the Prophets, those who have preceded them (in Islam), and the Imams of knowledge and guidance.

The Qur’an mentioned to us regarding the enemies of the Prophets that they accused them of lying, sorcery, soothsaying, insanity, and they accused them of many things. Therefore, it is incumbent upon the one who calls to Allah’s path- the one who is sincere to Allah [The Mighty and Majestic] – that he takes as his role model these Prophets and whoever follows their path among the Imams of Islam. When it is the case that despite their lofty statuses they were not spared from these accusations and verbal abuse, then how can we, the weak and poor (in knowledge and faith), be spared?! “Reward (for a deed is given) according to the level of exertion”, “The people put to trial the most were the Prophets, then the next best, then the next best”. Allah says:

And if Allāh had so willed, He could have punished (and destroyed) them (without you). But (He commanded you to fight against them) in order to test some of you with others]. [7] However, He wants some people to be a test for others (based on His Perfect Knowledge, Wisdom, and Justice), so whoever succeeds in this test and trial, Allah will raise his rank and honor him in this world and the Hereafter. [8] Indeed, many people may lose courage, lose their strength, and lose heart – either snuggle, [ فيخلد إلى الأرض – and then cling to the earth (i.e. preoccupied and diverted by the things of the worldly life)] or deviate as happens to many people. These people lose courage in the face of this affliction.

Therefore, we ask Allah [The Blessed and Most High] to keep us and you away from the causes of losing courage and the causes of defeat. By Allah, it is a battle between truth and falsehood that is more severe than military battles. The psychological war being waged in this era against Salafi callers (to Islam)is unparalleled. Because the media outlets have multiplied, and their arena has expanded in the east and west of the earth, and the presence of the devils among humankind in this era, I don’t think one can find their equal in plotting to wage war against the Salafi methodology and its adherents. I don’t think anything similar to it has preceded centuries ago – as it has been stated -because at present there is art in plotting, scheming, lies, rumours, and what is said by what is referred to as the malicious media.

Sa’eed Hawaa, one of the distinguished personalities of the “Muslim Brotherhood (Sect)” [9]- one of the senior (figureheads), who wrote many books that served this corrupt methodology, and they used to hold him in high regard until he reached a great status among them; then a disagreement arose between them… [what comes after statement is missing from the audio]

Then the Qutbists [10] came after them, and it is said that if these mentioned orientations (or groups) gathered with the Muslim Brotherhood (Sect), they would not achieve what the Qutbists have achieved in attacking Ahlus Sunnah with regards to misrepresenting (or distorting the true methodology of Ahlus Sunnah), but one must exercise patience. [Allah says]: [إِنَّما يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ حِسابٍ – Only those who are patient shall receive their rewards in full, without reckoning]. [Surah Az-Zumar. Ayah 10]

We ask Allah [The Blessed and Most High] to guide them or stop their enmity, and that Allah Exalt His statement, and support His religion. Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplications.

The reader of the questions said: May Allah reward you with good. O Shaikh! It is also stated in the question with another expression (as follows): Is the Mubtadi [Footnote a] in our era treated as the Mubtadi in the earlier era (because) there is no doubt that the era of Imam Ahmad was different from this present era of ours?

Response: The religion ordained by Allah does not change and varies based on people changing and adopting different (ways, orientations, views, etc). The religion ordained by Allah (remains as) the religion ordained by Allah, and Allah’s call (remains as) Allah’s call. The dealings during the era of the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], in the era of Imaam Ahmad, Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and Shaikhul Islam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab, and thereafter, all emanate from Allah’s Book (The Qur’an) and the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger. Their methodology is one, but there is a need for someone to apply this methodology and know how to deal with Ahlul Bidah in the light of the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

Ahlul Bidah must be warned against, their faults (attributed to the religion) exposed, and their misguidance clarified. This is one of the most obligated obligations and prescribed duties. What they say that the situation is different and that times are different is that do not want you to speak about Ahlul Bidah because these (deviated) parties (groups) are submissive to innovated, misguided leaderships (or leaders), so when you speak about their misguided leaderships (or leaders)- criticising them, they want you to remain silent. Therefore, do not be led astray by these tactics. They say (i.e. claim) that Ahmed was (such and such), Ibn Taymiyyah was (such and such)- distort their speech and objectives. All of this is to silence Ahlus Sunnah and address them with a speech that will make them dumbfounded to make them keep quiet about their leaders, and indeed, they have made every effort to silence Ahlus Sunnah. But all that Ahlus Sunnah has to do is roll up their sleeves and strive to raise the word of Allah, spread the Sunnah and manifest it, and refute Bidah with everything they can do in every country. It is necessary to clarify these affairs for the people, such as differentiating between truth and falsehood, guidance and misguidance, and Sunnah and Bidah, which the people of Bidah and the proponents of abominable partisanship do not want- those who hide behind the term Salafiyyah through plotting and stratagem.

Indeed, they seek to distort Salafiyyah with great force so that they can crush it. That is why you see these people pursuing the Salafi call and its youth everywhere to crush it and establish on its ruins their innovated, corrupt methodologies. This is something tangible. In any case, it is necessary to speak about Ahlul Bidah, warning against them is necessary, and it is Jihad. They (i.e. the scholars) said in the time of Imaam Ahmed, “Jihad against Ahlul Bidah” or they said, “Defending the Sunnah is better than striking with swords (in Jihad)”. Ibn Taymiyyah – during his era – rolled up his sleeves and exerted himself in a manner that surpassed many of the Imams of Islam before him because he encountered many Bidah, so he confronted them with Allah’s Book and the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], refuted them and restrained their proponents together with his forbearance, knowledge, and wisdom. From those affairs related to the clarification that is based on wisdom and the rights of knowledge is the distinction between truth and falsehood, guidance and misguidance, Sunnah and Bidah. Allah says: [وَإِذْ أَخَذَ اللَّهُ مِيثَاقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكْتُمُونَهُ – (And remember) when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) to make it (the news of the coming of Prophet Muhammad and the religious knowledge) known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it]. [Surah Al-Imran. Ayah 187]

I swear by Allah, the Prophets strove and stood up to remove the people out of darkness (and entered them) into light, and scholars are heirs of Prophets (in knowledge, religion, guidance, etc). Therefore, it is necessary to strive and roll up the sleeves to rescue the people from the darkness (and enter them into) light (i.e. by the permission of Allah). I say to these Masaakeen [i.e. these people who are very needy in their understanding and stances] that I swear by Allah that Ahlus Sunnah are the most sincere advisers and the most eager regarding what will benefit the people in their religion and their worldly affairs. I swear by Allah that whoever wants to silence Ahlus Sunnah is one who harms, betrays, and deceives the Ummah. He is the one who does not care whether the people are entered into the depths of the fire, or whether they are saved or not. As for Ahlus Sunnah, I swear by Allah that they only want good for the people, and they only want this Ummah to follow the path of their Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and his straight path to enter Paradise or whoever Allah wills to enter into Paradise. When Ahlus Sunnah strives and stands up for (the truth), it is not for anything, but to guide these people and present what will benefit them in their religion and worldly affairs, and by Allah those who defend Ahlul Bidah are enemies of the people. They are the ones who harm them and prevent them from the truth that can reach them through the callers (to Islam) among Ahlus Sunnah.

So, how does our time differ from the time of Imaam Ahmed?! In the time of Ahmed, it was permissible to speak about Ahlul Bidah and warn against them, but now it is not permissible?! Clarify what you want! What do you want from this statement? Do you want us not to clarify the truth for the people, and that we do not warn them against misguidance, and Bidah, and that we not teach them the correct beliefs and correct approaches? What do you want? Clarify for us. There is deception and generality (that needs explanation) in this speech, may Allah bless you. This is why, as I emphasised to you, they do not want – at all -speech directed at the figureheads of Bidah and misguidance. Hence, they initiated the methodology of Muwaazanaat [Footnote b] after they lost hope that Ahlus Sunnah would not remain silent. They initiated the methodology of Muwaazanaat to praise their leaders (of Bidah and misguidance), and thereafter speak about their mistakes. Despite being (rightfully) disgraced, they are unwilling and do not the mistakes of their leaders to be mentioned, but if you must speak, then speak based on counterbalancing (i.e. Muwaazanaat). They institute in the religion ordained by Allah that which Allah has not allowed, and forbid what Allah has established about propagating Allah’s Message, the advice to be given to Muslims, and to warn them against what would harm them in their religion and worldly affairs. They forbid these affairs, thus they commit a greater crime against Islam than those whom they call Tawaagheet (false gods) and fight them to gain access to the seats of (political) leadership. [4] Who are the Mur’jiah? This innovation occurred just prior to the end of the first century hijrah, and there is some difference as to who the originator was, with the names presented such as Dharr bin Abdullaah al-Hamdaanee, Qays al-Maasir and Hammaad bin Abi Sulaymaan – they all lived in the same era and in the same locality, al-Kufah in Iraq, so it is certain that the idea origination in a certain location. This irjaa’ was that of the Jurists (Fuquhaa) and which manifested in the Hanafis. Al-Jahm bin Safwaan (see the section on the Jahmiyyah below) also propounded irjaa’ and his was an extreme form that was passed on through the factions of the Mutakallimoon. irjaa’ is to expel actions from the reality of faith (Eemaan) and to restrict faith to being only what is in the heart, or what is upon the tongue, or only in the heart and tongue. And thus, all the legislated actions, be the obligatory or recommended, are considered external to the essence and reality of Eemaan (faith).

[5] Who are the Raafidah? They are extreme Shi’ites who are commonly known as the Twelvers (Ithnaa Asharah). A Yemeni Jew, by the name of Abdullaah bin Saba’ was the founder of this group, and he appeared in the time of ‘Alee (radiallaahu anhu). He instigated a revolution against the Caliph Uthmaan (radiallaahu anhu) and mustered other Muslims together for that purpose, claiming that Alee had more right to be the Caliph. He, in common with the Khawaarij, raised the banner of “social justice” for that purpose. He eventually deified Alee, declaring him to be Allaah. Alee ordered him and followers to be burned to death, but Abdullaah bin Saba’ escaped to a place called al-Madaa’in.

The Raafidah Shi’ah proclaim love for Alee and the Ahl ul-Bayt (family of the Prophet). Their main doctrine is that the Caliphate belonged to Alee’ after the Prophet and that the Imaamate is the right of the Ahl ul-Bayt (offspring of Alee’). They declare most of the Companions to be disbeleivers except for a handful, and they have specific enmity towards Abu Bakr and Umar (radiallaahu anhumaa). They claim infallibility (al-ismah) for their Imaams, and give them divine attributes such as knowing the unseen. They make the issue of Imaamah (leadership) to be from the greatest of the pillars of the religion. They claim the Qur’an is incomplete and have their own Qur’aan, and they curse and revile the Companions and the wives of the Prophet (alayhis salaam), this being worship for them. They also make deception (taqiyah) to be a pillar of their religion. As they evolved they acquired other innovations, such as those of the Mu’tazilah and those of the Mushabbihah, Mujassimah. They also plunged in their morals and are the most lying and deceiving of people. The Rafidah Shi’ah are also very adept at spreading their poison.

[9] Muslim Brotherhood: The so-called “Muslim Brotherhood” (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimeen) is an organization that was set up in Egypt in 1928 and modeled upon a prior organization set up by the suspect figure Jamal ul-Din al-Afghani. Its founder, Hasan al-Banna was an Ash’ari and Hasawi Sufi. Its two most influential figureheads are Hasan al-Banna and Sayyid Qutb and they each laid down the foundations for the two major strains of Ikhwani thought and methodology. Hasan al-Banna brought the alleged “golden principle” of accommodating all of the deviant sects in order to amass as large a number as possible (to be used to help achieve the political goals and aspirations of the leaders of this group). This included making inroads, allegiances and friendships with the Iranian Rafidah. Sayyid Qutb (website) brought the elements of Takfir (of all contemporary Muslim societies) and the necessity of revolution (against them) through which rulers are targeted and replaced. Both these methodologies work hand in hand and are two sides of the same coin. As a result, the Muslim Brotherhood has been a useful tool for creating chaos and corruption both in religious and worldly affairs and served as a useful proxy to help achieve geo-political agendas. http://www.ikhwanis.com/index.cfm

People used to ask about the good times, but I used to ask about the bad times- Commentary By Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan

In The Name of Allah The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allah preserve him, said:

All praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and his companions.  To proceed:

Indeed, the hadith that will be addressed – in this lecture – is the hadith of Hudhaifah Bin Al-Yaman, may Allah be pleased with him. He said: People used to ask Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, about the good times, but I used to ask him about bad times fearing lest they overtake me.  I said, “O Messenger of Allah! We were in a state of pre-Islamic ignorance and evil, and then Allah brought us this good (time through Islam), is there any evil time after this good one?” He said, “Yes” I asked, “Will there be a good time again after that evil?” He said, “Yes, but therein will be a hidden evil”. I asked, “What will be the evil hidden therein?” He said, “People who will follow ways other than mine and seek guidance other than mine. You will know (their) good points as well as (their) bad points”. I asked, “Will there be an evil time after this good one?” He said, “Yes, when there will be people standing and inviting at the gates of Hell. Whosoever responds to their call they will throw them into the fire”. I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Describe them for us”. He said, “They will be a people having the same complexion as ours and speaking our language”. I said, “O Messenger of Allah! What do you suggest if I happen to live in that time?” He said, “You should stick to the main body of the Muslims and their leader”. I said, “If they have no main body and have no leader?” He said, “Separate yourself from all these factions, though you may have to eat the roots of trees (in a jungle) until death comes to you and you are in this state”. [Bukhari and Muslim…. The wording of the above is that of Imam Muslim]

Indeed, Allah pre-decreed (1) that the creation will be visited by tribulations, trials and tests, in order that the truthful one is distinguished from the hypocrite. Allah, The Exalted, said:

الٓمٓ

أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَنْ يُتْرَكُوا أَنْ يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ

Alif-Laam-Meem. Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: ‘’We believe,’’ and will not be tested. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood) of those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test). [Al-Ankabut. 1-3]

Fitnah is a test. The human being will not be left alone because he says, “I believe, I submit, I am a Muslim, I am a believer!” He will be put to trial. If he exercises patience and firmly adheres to his Iman during tribulations, he is the one truthful to his Iman. If he deviates during tribulations and turns away from his religion, this one is not truthful to his Iman.  He is a hypocrite (i.e. depending on the severity of the deviation), as Allah [The Exalted] said:

And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: “We believe in Allah and the Last Day” while in fact they believe not. They (think to) deceive Allah and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not! In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies. [Al-Baqarah. 8-10]

This is the way of Allah.  Allah, The Mighty and Majestic, said:

Allah will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now, until He distinguishes the wicked from the good. Nor will Allah disclose to you the secrets of the Ghaib (unseen), but Allah chooses of His Messengers whom He pleases. So, believe in Allah and His Messengers. And if you believe and fear Allah, then for you there is a great reward. [Aal Imran. 79]

Allah allows trials and tests to occur in order that the truthful one is distinguished from the liar, the true believer from the hypocrite, and the good one from the wicked one. This is from Allah’s (perfect) Wisdom.  Trials will occur as a result of this (perfect) Wisdom. If trials do not occur, the truth will be confounded with falsehood-the believer will be confused for the hypocrite and there will not be a distinction between this one and that one.

In this hadith reported by the honourable companion Hudhaifah Bin Al Yaman, he said: “The people used to ask the Messenger of Allah about the good times”. They used to ask him about the good regarding righteous deeds,  the correct Islamic creed and dealings, but Hudhaifah used to ask him about the evil times fearing lest they overcome him. Therefore, in this is evidence that it is not enough to only learn about the good; rather one must know about the evil to avoid it. If you do not know about the evil, you will come close to falling into it, as the poet said: “I acquaint myself with the evil not for the sake of evil, but to be safeguarded from it. The one who does not know (the distinction between) evil and good will fall into evil”.

A person must learn about the truth-its proofs and evidences. He must learn and know what falsehood is and the doubts associated with it, in order that he can be saved from falsehood and warn people against it. How can he avoid and warn people against it if he is unaware of it? In this regard, the Qur’an has clarified truth and falsehood, Iman and Kufr, Tawhid and Shirk, and Halal and Haram. It has not only clarified Tawhid, Halal and truth; rather it clarified that which is in opposition to them, so that the Muslim can avoid them. Likewise, the Prophet – in his Sunnah- clarified good and evil, truth and falsehood in all matters of the religion. The scholars clarified – in their written works- what Tawhid, Shirk, disbelief and hypocrisy are. They have clarified the belief of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah and the beliefs of the deviated sects, such as the Jahmiyyah, the Mutazilah, the Asha’itah …..and other than that. They have clarified the correct and forbidden dealings, the correct marriage, the false and corrupt marriage and the women forbidden (for one to marry). They have clarified the (good) and the evil manners. All of this gives the Muslim an insight into his affairs, so that he knows the truth based on its evidences, knows what falsehood is and the doubts associated with it, in order that he can avoid falsehood and tell the people avoid it. This is why you find in the books of belief: clarification of the belief in Tawhid and the belief of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, clarification of the beliefs (that are tantamount) to misguidance, the doubts associated with it and refutation against them, so that a Muslim is not misled by deviations, false beliefs and deviated schools of thought, and so that Muslims can be upon a correct understanding in their religion and that which is in opposition to it.

Some of the people at present- the majority of them ignorant ones and amongst them misguided ones- say, “Do not learn about the false beliefs; suffice yourselves with learning the correct belief only and do not involve yourself in seeking to know the beliefs of the people of misguidance and the refutations against their doubts. Leave this and teach the children of the Muslims the correct belief only. Do not inform them about the statements that are in opposition, the doubts and refutation against them”.  This one (i.e. the one who makes these statements) is either one of the ignorant people who knows nothing about knowledge or he is one of those motivated by personal desires-those who want to spread the false schools of thought and their doubts; rather it may be that they say, “It is sufficient for a person to say, I am a Muslim, I am a believer….. a general Islam suffices, do not say, Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa-ah, the people of misguidance, splitting and differing; do not say this because it will cause division between the Muslims”. These (statements are tantamount to) misguidance because Allah [The Mighty and Majestic] has clarified the truth and falsehood, guidance and misguidance, and Tawhid and shirk. Allah [The Mighty and Majestic] has clarified all the matters of the religion- a detailed clarification of the matters related to worship, mutual dealings and manners. Therefore, this must be clarified so that it is made clear to the people, (and in order) that they can be upon clarity, and the true Muslim is distinguished from the so-called Muslim and no deviation and forgery enters into Islam. We must make a distinction between this and that one, in order that truth is not confounded with falsehood, distinguish between truth and falsehood, good and wickedness. We do not suffice ourselves with a general Islam because this is misleading, and it is deception. We warn against this propaganda. The truth must be clarified and distinguished from falsehood, and guidance must be distinguished from misguidance. Hudhaifah used to ask the Prophet about the evil and did not suffice himself by only asking the Prophet about the good. The Prophet affirmed that for him and did not say to him, “Suffice yourself with knowing what good is” rather he affirmed and clarified- for him- the evil that was to occur, in order that he may beware and warn others. This is the Sunnah, this is the path of the Qur’an and that of the Messenger.

Hudhaifah said: “O Messenger of Allah! We were in state of Al-Jaahiliyyah and evil”.

Al-Jaahiliyyah: It is derived from al-Jahl (ignorance). It is the absence of knowledge, and the intent behind it is the state of affairs before Islam. The state of affairs before the advent of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is Al-Jaahiliyyah. This is because the people were in a state of ignorance and misguidance with regards to worship, mutual dealings, food consumption, marriage and other than that. They were in ignorance and misguidance due to the long period between Eesa and Muhammad (i.e. the absence of a Messenger). This was a period of over four hundred years within which the divine message ceased. The divine message was obscured, whilst ignorance and misguidance became widespread. The people worshiped idols, trees, stones, false deities, the Jinn and humans. They worshiped the angels, and the righteous, and they were upon divergent paths. With regards to the halal and haram, they did not distinguish between good and filth; rather they used to deal in usury. The usury of the pre-Islamic era of ignorance was that when they settled a debt with a debtor, they would say, “Either you settle the debt, or we increase the debt and double the time it (should be paid)”. This was the Pre-Islamic Usury and it used to be predominant in their mutual dealings. They used to gather wealth through forbidden means- through pillage, plunder, robbery and devouring people’s wealth through falsehood.

And with regards to food consumption, they made dead animals and blood lawful. They used to eat dead animals, blood and repugnant things. With regards to their relationship between one another, they used to kill and fight one another over the most trivial thing. They neither had a leader nor a state. They were either under the authority of tribal systems or under the authority of the Persians and the Romans. The powerful used to violate (the rights of the weak), and an oppressor used to transgress the limits, and no one stopped him. This was the state of affairs in Al-Jaahiliyyah (The Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance). They were upon ignorance in all aspects (of life) and the greatest of this was related to worship and creed. They believed in in Shirk, rejected the (Resurrection) and the Divine Message. [They said]: [مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ بَشَرٍ مِنْ شَيْءٍ – Nothing did Allah send down to any human being (by revelation)]. 6:91]

This was their state of affairs in Al-Jaahiliyyah. Then, Allah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections, sent Muhammad with the Guidance and the Religion of Truth. Allah stated: [هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ َ – It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with Al Hudaa (the Guidance) and Deenul Haqq (the religion of truth -Islaam) 9:33]

Hudaa is beneficial knowledge and Deenul Haq is righteous action. Allah sent His Prophet with beneficial knowledge and righteous action, thus that pre-Islamic ignorance ceased to exist for ever and knowledge and guidance appeared. The Jaahiliyyah Aamma (The Pre-Islamic ignorance that was widespread in the world and touched every aspect of life) has ceased to exist; but it remains amongst some people or some of the tribes, or in some of the lands. This is Jaahiliyyah Juz’iy (partial Pre-Islamic Ignorance). As for the ‘Jahiliyyah Aamma’, this has ceased to exist after the advent of the Messenger, but some traits of Pre-Islamic ignorance remains among some of the people due to statement of the Prophet “Among my people there are four characteristics belonging to pre-Islamic period which they do not abandon: boasting of high rank, reviling other peoples’ genealogies, seeking rain by stars, and wailing (i.e. for the dead).’’ [Sahih Muslim]. This remains, but it is an aspect of Jaahiliyyah. As for the Jaahiliyyah Aamma, it has ceased to exist. Therefore, it is not permissible to say that the people are in Al-Jaahiliyyah (unrestrictedly). Some say: “(The people) are in a state of Pre-Islamic ignorance that is more severe than the one before the advent of the Prophet”. The meaning of this is a denial of what the Messenger conveyed – a denial of the Qur’an, the Sunnah of the Prophet and the abundant knowledge within our hands. Its meaning is that we are in Al-Jaahiliyyah. This (statement) is a mistake; the people are not in Al-Jaahiliyyah, but there remains some of the traits of Al-Jaahiliyyah in some individuals- in some nations and tribes; but this is a specific Jahiliyyah. Therefore, it is obligatory to be acquainted with this affair.

His [Hudhaifah’s] statement, “We were in a state of ignorance and evil”.

What is evil? Evil is that which the people were upon- Shirk, worship of images, eating haram and other evil deeds before the advent of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. These were the evil deeds, but Allah brought about good (through Islam).  Hudhaifah, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “And then Allah brought us this good (time through Islam)”. This is an acknowledgement of Allah’s grace, for indeed good (only) comes from Allah [The Exalted] and He is The One Who guided us. We cannot recognise good (solely) through our intellects and the knowledge we possess; rather we come to know of it through the revelation given to the Messenger- the Magnificent Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah.

The truth is not known through the intellects or habits, or through blind following and opinions; rather it is known through the revelation sent down by Allah – the revelation that was communicated through the tongue of His Messenger. Therefore, this is a rebuttal against those who say that the people are free to hold onto their views and everyone can say what he wants. We say, “No, the people are the slaves of Allah and their intellects and views are deficient. They must return to the revelation in order to know the truth and reject falsehood”.

Regarding his (Hudhaifah’s) statement: “And then Allaah brought us this good (time through Islam)”. What is good? It is Islam because of the guidance it contains, knowledge and the absence of doubts that have pervaded the minds of many people. Allah brought about this immense good. This is an acknowledgement of Allah’s blessing because blessings only come to us from Him, Glorified and Exalted be He. Indeed, Allah did not leave us to our intellects and views; rather Allah is the One Who shows us good and guides us towards it. Allah said:

Say: If (even) I go astray, I shall stray only to my own loss. But if I remain guided, it is because of the Revelation of my Lord to me. Truly, He is All-Hearer, Ever Near (to all things) 34:50]

(Then) he (Hudhaifah) said: “Is there any evil time after this good one?”

This is proof that a Muslim is not safe from trials and tribulations even if he is has knowledge, righteous action and correct creed. Indeed, he will not be safe from the callers to misguidance and evil, and due to this reason Hudhaifah asked Allah’s Messenger, saying: “Is there any evil time after this good one?” This is proof that evil will appear after good, and these are trials and tests Allah will allow to appear amongst the people. Indeed, they will not continue to be upon one state; rather they will face changing circumstances. The human being will not be safe from trials and doubts; he will not be safe from the callers to misguidance even if he is upon good- upon a correct creed and Religion. This is why Hudhaifah asked: “Is there any evil time after this good one?” He (the Prophet) said, “Yes”.

This is Khabar [information] from the Messenger that evil will occur after good. This took place during the latter part of the era of the Sahaabah. Trials and evil emerged from the misguided sects, such as the Qadariyyah, the Shia, the Murji’ah, the Jahmiyyah and other than them. This took place during the latter part of the era of the Sahaabah, may Allah be pleased with them. However, as long as the Qur’an and the Sunnah are present, this evil will be repelled if the scholars convey the Qur’an and the Sunnah and clarify these trials and evils for the people. Therefore, the cure is present -all praise and thanks be to Allah-and evil will be repelled.

(Hudhaifah) said, “Will there be a good time again after that evil time?” He (the Prophet) said: “Yes”. In this is proof that evil will not be continuous, and that the Muslim should wait for solace from Allah. Allah, The Mighty and Majestic, said:

فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

So verily, with the hardship, there is relief. Verily, with the hardship, there is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs).

Solace must come. He (the Prophet) said: “Know that along with patience is assistance, along with distress is solace, and along with every hardship is relief”.[Reported by Ahmad]

(One) should not lose hope when trials and evil increases. Indeed, he should be in a state of tranquility and encourage others to be in a state of tranquility when trials occur, and he should say: “All praise and thanks be to Allah, we are upon guidance and a clear religion. Solace is close by and evil will cease to exist by the permission of Allah”. This is what is incumbent upon the good people and the scholars, that they have tranquility and (urge) the people to be in a state of tranquility because this (evil) will cease by the permission of Allah and solace will come after it.

It is not permissible for a person to say: “The people are destroyed”. This is not permissible; rather (one) should (urge) the people to be in a state of tranquility, firm upon good and expectant of assistance, for indeed the good end is for the people of piety. Therefore, regardless how great the evil and trial is, it will cease to exist. He (the Prophet) said: “A group of my followers will remain manifest upon the truth. They will neither be harmed by those who forsake them nor by those who oppose them till Allah’s command comes (i.e. the day of Judgement)”.[Bukhari and Muslim]

Islam will not cease to continue and all praise and thanks be to Allah. The religion and the Qur’an will not cease to exist until that appointed time about which the Prophet has informed us that at the end of time the Qur’an will be taken away from the hearts of men and from the Masaahif (i.e. the copies of the Qur’an).  The Qur’an will not remain within the hands of the people (at that time), but this will be at the time of the destruction of the world (i.e. when the day of judgement is very close). (However), good will continue to exist while the Qur’an, the Sunnah and the Qiblah are present, even though there is one who is led away from it and strays; and even though there is one who deviates from it and deviated, as the saying goes: “Fitnah has its victims”. It takes away the one who goes with it; but the people of Iman will remain even if they are small in number. Even if there is one who goes along with the Fitnah, the one who goes astray and the one who comes along, the truth and its people will remain, and all praise and thanks be to Allah. The truth is present, as Allaah said:

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ

Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur’an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption).

A person is neither to lose hope nor despair. He should not to make the people lose hope of a return to goodness. He should not make the people lose hope that truth will prevail, and falsehood will be repelled. This is because Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, has made that promise and He does not fail to fulfil His promise. Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “The Religion is aided when put to the test; therefore, do not be amazed for this is the way the Most Merciful (Allah)”.

Allah said:

And so are the days (good and not so good), We give to men by turns, that Allah may test those who believe, and that He may take martyrs from among you. And Allah likes not the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrong doers). And that Allaah may test (or purify) the believers (from sins) and destroy the disbelievers.

This is the wisdom behind the occurrence of trials and tribulations, so that the believers are purified, exercise patience, become firm upon the truth and are cautioned for their mistakes, and repent to Allah, and the disbelievers in Allah are destroyed. Therefore, (trials and tribulations) are a purification for the believers and destruction for the disbelievers, and all praise and thanks be to Allah. It is obligated to a Muslim that he looks at (the affairs) with optimism-neither looks at history and the state of affairs with pessimism and hopelessness nor make the people lose hope. It has been reported in a hadith: “Whoever says the people are ruined, he himself is ruined”. [Muslim] Therefore, a person should neither lose hope in Allah’s Mercy nor does he make people lose hope that Allah will bring about solace.

(Hudhaifah) said: “Will there be a good time again after that evil time?” He (the Prophet) said, “Yes, but therein will be Dakhan (a hidden evil)”. I asked, “What will be the evil hidden therein?” He said, “People who will follow ways other than mine and seek guidance other than mine. You will know (their) good points as well as (their) bad points”. In this is proof that one should expect solace and not despair of Allah’s Mercy. Indeed, good will come after evil. The Muslim should neither despair nor lose hope; he has to wait for solace. However, this has to be accompanied by the deeds one is able to do, statements, spreading knowledge, calling to Allah, telling the people to have certainty and keeping them away from despair and lack of hope. He (the pessimist) says: “Islam and the Muslims have vanished, the affair has ended, and the religion has been annihilated…..and so forth…..”. These are maqaalaat sayyi’ah (evil statements).

Regarding his (the Prophet’s) statement: “But therein (during this period) will be a hidden evil”, meaning, there will be something of alteration during that good time. It is a (good time) but there would be something of alteration in it. This is information given by the truthful one, the one who is believed- (i.e. the Prophet), and indeed good has occurred along with something of alterations.

(Hudhaifah) said, “What will be the evil hidden therein?” Subhaanallaah! This man is precise (in the manner) he presents his questions, and Allah made him utter that which is beneficial and education for the ummah. He (the Prophet) said: “People who will follow ways other than mine and they will seek guidance other than mine”. Meaning, they will be matters with them that are (not agreement with the guidance of the Prophet). They are Muslims and believers who possess good, but they will (also) have something of those things that are not (in conformity with the guidance of the Messenger) that will not terminate their Iman and religion; but it will make it deficient. Likewise, there will be deficiency in the worldly affairs. It (has been reported in another) hadith: “No time will come upon you but the time following it will be worse than it, till you meet your lord”. Thus, they will have some things that are in (opposition to the Sunnah and the guidance of the Messenger) and they will seek guidance other than that of Prophet. They will initiate things in opposition to the Sunnah, however it will not be a complete opposition; rather it will be a specific type of opposition. In this is a warning against opposing (the Sunnah) even if that is little.

In this is a warning against seeking guidance other than that of the Prophet, even if that is little because the Prophet referred to it as Dakhan- Meaning, deficiency and Harm. In this is proof that the judgment of disbelief is not passed on the Muslim as long as he does not commit Major shirk or apostates from Islam through one of the nullifiers of Islam. However, he may have some deviation and some things that are not in accordance with the (Sunnah). This either makes him one who is mistaken and misguided or a sinner due to committing a sin that does not expel him from Islam. In this is a fundamental principle from the fundamental principles of Aqeedah that the judgment of disbelief is not passed on the one who commits a major sin; rather this is called Dakhan (hidden evil) and Naqsan (deficiency) in religion, or sin; but it is not called disbelief and apostasy as the Khawaarij and Mutazilah say.

He (the Prophet) said: “You will know (their) good points as well as (their) bad points”. You will know the good points of these people and this is proof that they will possess good. You will know their bad points, and this is proof that they will have something of evil that will be in opposition to the guidance of the Messenger. They will possess both good and evil. The Messenger referred to (this period) with good and attested to it, and this is proof that it is good even if there is a hidden evil in it. In this is proof of the Creed of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah regarding the fact that not every matter that is in opposition to the Prophet’s guidance is disbelief; rather, it may be an error, misguidance or deficiency in Iman, and it can also be called evil. There is a differentiation between evil absolute evil, partial evil and evil that is compared (with other evil things). Therefore, we must name things with their appropriate names.

[Hudhaifah] asked: ‘”Will there be a bad time after this good one?” He (the Prophet) said: “Yes”. This is the third time that evil will occur, but it will be greater than the first time. In the first evil, the people possessed both good and evil. However, these ones will be callers to the gates of hell fire. They do not say to the people, “Come to the hell fire!!”, they say: “’Come to progress and civilization, development and conformity with the nations. Do not remain old fashioned and rigid”. The meaning of this is to abandon your religion and go along with the people. These are callers to the gates of hell fire-they call (the Muslims) to abandon their religion and affiliate themselves to the disbelievers. This is the call to the hell fire because the hell fire is a promise for the disbelievers. They call the people to that which the people of hell fire are upon – the disbelievers, the idolaters and the atheists. How numerous are these callers in the Islamic world today! Laa Hawla Walaa Quwwata Illaa Billaah!

Therefore, we must issue severe warning against them. Why? Because they call us to the hell fire, and Allah, The Mighty and Majestic, said about the disbelievers:

أُولَٰئِكَ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى النَّارِ ۖ وَاللَّهُ يَدْعُو إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَالْمَغْفِرَةِ بِإِذْنِهِ

Those (Al-Mushrikoon) invite you to the fire, but Allah invites (you) to Paradise and Forgiveness by His Leave.

He, Glorified and Exalted be He, said about shaytaan:

إِنَّمَا يَدْعُو حِزْبَهُ لِيَكُونُوا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ

He only invites his Hizb (followers) that they may become the dwellers of the fire.

The believer amongst the people of fir’awn said:

وَيَا قَوْمِ مَا لِي أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى النَّجَاةِ وَتَدْعُونَنِي إِلَى النَّارِ

And O my people! How is it that I call you to salvation while you call me to the fire.

How did he call them to the Paradise and how did they call him to the fire?

You invite me to disbelieve in Allaah and to join partners in worship with Him of which I have no knowledge; and I call you to the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving!

This is the difference between the callers to good and the callers to evil. Indeed, the callers to good invite to (the path of) Allah-to His Religion and Paradise; and the callers to evil invite to the hell fire. (The callers to evil) do not say to the people, “Come to the fire!!”’ They say, “Come to paradise, these are the actions of the people of Paradise, this is good, this is development, this is rectification, this is and this is….” and they beautify that for the people. Therefore, the Muslims should be cautious of these people. Indeed, they have become numerous in this era, and Allah knows best whether they will increase in the future. They might be facilitated with tools that were not possessed by the previous callers to misguidance, given firm support and the misguidance rapidly reaches the people. The suggestion of the seducer and the falsifier will be adorned and made to appear as something good to the people in any place, whilst it is something evil. This is the height of fitnah.

‘”Whosoever responds to their call will be thrown into the fire”. Whoever responds to them by complying, believing and assisting them, will be thrown into the fire. As for those who do not comply with them, oppose and openly reject what they are upon, they will not harm him. Allah said:

And verily this is My Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become pious.

The Prophet whilst explaining this Ayah drew a straight line and said, “This is the path of Allah”. Then he drew lines to the left and right (of this straight line) and said, “These are the other paths, and on every path is a devil calling the people to it”. [Ahmad 1/435]

This is a description of the callers to misguidance, their methodologies and objectives. It has been thoroughly illustrated for us that whatever opposes the Straight Path is a path leading to Jahannam, and whoever abandons the Straight Path is heading towards the Jahannam, even if he regards himself civilized, progressive and open minded.

[Hudhaifah] said: “O Messenger of Allah! Describe them for us”.

Look at these amazing questions from this honourable companion?! The Messenger of Allah paused, but he asked him and the Messenger answered him in detail and with clarity. He said, “They will be a people having the same complexion as ours and will speak our language”. This is a Calamity!! Indeed, they are close to you, they are from our community and country. Had they been foreigners, from America or other than it, the affair would have been easy; however, the problem is that they are the son of so and so, and it may be that they say, “I am a scholar, I have certifications, I am, and I am…. “. They are from us and they speak with our language. They are Arabs like us; rather they possess eloquence. When they write, deliver a speech or a lecture, they speak with our tongue just as Allah said concerning the hypocrites: [وَإِنْ يَقُولُوا تَسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِهِمْ- And when they speak, you listen to their words. [63:4]

They possess eloquence that overwhelms the listener. The listener listens to them because of their eloquent speech. The Prophet said: “Indeed, some eloquent speech has the influence of magic”. [Al-Bukhari 5146]

They speak with our tongue (i.e. the Arabic tongue). Had they spoken with a foreign language or the language of the Persians, there would not have been inclination towards them, but the problem is that when they speak with eloquent speech, the people are lured towards them. This is the height of fitnah.

Hudhaifah said: “O Messenger of Allah! What do you suggest if I happen to live in that time?” He said: “You should adhere to the Jamaa’ah (the main body of the Muslims) and their leader”. In this is a clarification regarding what the Muslim must do when these trials occur and the evils through which people are called to deviation, decadence, agreement with the disbelievers and abandonment of Islam and its rulings. Indeed, the Muslim is not deceived by them, rather he stays with the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims. He adheres to the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims and does not separate from them- neither by way of opinions and beliefs nor statements. He is not deceived by speech and what is falsely made to seem desirable; rather he looks at what the Muslims (who are adhering to Qur’an, the authentic sunnah and understanding of the companions). The Prophet said: “My ummah will not agree upon misguidance”. He said: “It is obligated to you to adhere to the Jamaa’ah, for indeed the Hand of Allah is over the Jamaa’ah”. [Tirmidhee] So be with the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims.

The Muslims cannot be a Jamaa’ah except if they have a ruler who is obeyed. There is no Jamaa’ah except with a leader and there is no leader except that he is to be listened to and obeyed. Due to this Allah said: [يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ – O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority’’ [4:59]

And Allah said:

When there comes to them some matter touching (public) safety or fear, they make it known (among the people), if only they had referred it to the Messenger or to those charged with authority among them, the proper investigators would have understood it from them (directly). Had it not been for the Grace and Mercy of Allâh upon you, you would have followed Shaitân (Satan), save a few of you.’’ [4:83]

In this is proof regarding the means to safety from trials, and that is to adhere to the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims and their leader. This is safety by the permission of Allah. As for the one who isolates from the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims and follows the callers to misguidance, he will be destroyed alongside those who will be destroyed. There is a guaranteed safety in adhering to Jamaa’ah of the Muslims and their leader. Allah said:

And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad) after the right path has been shown clearly to him and follows other than the believers’ way (i.e. the way of the companions). We shall keep him in the path he has chosen and burn him in Hell – what an evil destination.’’ [4:115]

He (the Prophet) said: “It is obligated to you to adhere to the Jamaa’ah, for indeed the Hand of Allah is over the Jamaa’ah. Whoever isolates himself from the Jamaa’ah will be isolated in the fire”. He said: “I enjoin upon you to have fear of Allah, and to listen and obey even if a slave is placed in charge over your affairs. For indeed whosoever lives long amongst you will see a lot of differences, so stick to my sunnah and the sunnah of the rightly guided khulafaa after me”. Therefore, whoever wants to save himself during these trials and evils, he should not move away from what the Muslims and their leader are holding onto; rather he must exercise patience along with them. Even if he is afflicted with difficulties, he still exercises patience until Allah, The Mighty and Majestic, brings about Solace. This is the path to safety. He (the Prophet) said: “Adhere to the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims and their leader”.

[Hudhaifah] said: “What if they have no (such thing as the) main body and have no leader?”

This honourable companions does not stop asking the Messenger questions that contain great benefits for the ummah. He replied: “Separate yourself from all these factions though you may have to eat the roots of trees (in a jungle) until death comes to you and you are in this state”. In this is proof (to abandon) all the groups that are in opposition to that which the Messenger conveyed, and that which the pious predecessors of this ummah and their Imams were upon, and that which the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims are upon. When the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims is no longer (present), Laa-Hawla-Walaa-Quwwata-illaa-Billaah, what should the Muslim do? He should isolate himself from all these sects because they are all deviated sects and callers to the gates of hell fire. He should adhere to the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims if he finds them, and if not, then isolate yourself even if you are alone. Be firm upon the truth even if you are alone, and that is why it is said, “The Jamaa’ah is the one upon the truth even if he is alone”. This is the Jamaa’ah, and the Jamaa’ah is not the numerous groups; rather it the one upon the truth, “though you may have to eat the roots of trees (in a jungle) until death comes to you and you are in this state”.

In this is proof that what is given consideration are one’s final deeds. Indeed, the one who acvoid trials, stays firm upon the truth and exercises patience when facing trials until death comes to him in this state, he will be from the people of Paradise. The one upon whom death comes to whilst he has changed and substituted (the truth, his religion etc) and followed the callers to misguidance, he will be from the people of hell fire.

These are the few statements regarding this tremendous hadith. It clarifies the dangers that are an obstacle to the ummah in their (path, religion). In it is clarification regarding what is obligated to a Muslim during trials and that which is obligated to him in relation to adhering to the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims and their leader, the pious predecessors of this ummah and their Imams.  All praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the words, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon our Prophet [Muhammad], his family and all his companions. The Weaponisation of Necessities

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The Weaponisation of Necessities – A Very Harmful Practice Borrowed From Ancient Nations

Allah [The Exalted] said:

Have you not seen (contemplated with your heart) him who disputed with Ibrahim (Abraham) about his Lord (Allah), because Allah had given him the kingdom? When Ibrahim (Abraham) said (to him): “My Lord (Allah) is He Who gives life and causes death.” He said, “I give life and cause death.” Ibrahim (Abraham) said, “Verily! Allah causes the sun to rise from the east; then cause it you to rise from the west.” So the disbeliever was utterly defeated. And Allah guides not the people, who are Zalimun (wrong-doers, etc.). [Al-Baqarah. 258]

Imam Al-Baghawi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

There is a difference ofg opinon among (the Mufassiroon) regarding the timing of this debate. Muqatil, may Allah have mercy on him, stated that after Ibrahim, peace be upon him, broke the idols, Namrud imprisoned him and later brought him out to be burned. Namrud asked, “Who is the Lord you urge us to worship?” Ibrahim, peace be upon him, replied, “My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death.” Others say that this (occurred) after Ibrahim was thrown into the fire, during a time of drought when people sought food from Namrud. If someone approached him for food, he would inquire, “Who is your Lord?” If the person responded, “You are my Lord,” he would then offer to sell them food. (1)

[أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِى حَآجَّ إِبۡرَٲهِـۧمَ فِى رَبِّهِۦۤ – Have you seen (contemplated with your heart and eyes) him who disputed with Ibrahim (Abraham) about his Lord (Allah)]- Meaning, his insolence, mindlessness, obstinacy, and arguing about matters that are beyond dispute. Nothing led him to this behaviour except because “Allah had given him the kingdom”, thus, he transgressed and rebelled, and perceived himself as the one in command over those beneath him. This led him to argue with Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, regarding the Lordship of Allah, asserting that he possessed the ability to perform actions akin to those of Allah. Prophet Ibrahim said to him, “My Lord is He Who gives life and death” – Meaning, “Allah alone is in absolute control of everything”. Then Ibrahim mentioned two specific affairs – life and death because they are the greatest things in Allah’s absolute control. This is because granting life is the beginning of the worldly life, while death marks the onset of what is to transpire in the afterlife.

So, the one who sought to argue against Ibrahim said, “I give life and cause death”, but never said, “I am The One Who gives life and death” because he could not claim that he was not in need of anyone to interfere in the affair; rather he only claimed that he could do what Allah does by killing someone and sparing someone’s life. Prophet Ibrahim saw the fallacy in his argument and his utterance of speech that is not even worthy of being a Shubhah (i.e. an ambiguity portrayed as wholesome truth) let alone a proof, thus, he said to him, “Verily! Allah causes the sun to rise from the east”- Meaning, Ibrahim mentioned something that can be clearly seen and affirmed by everyone including this disbeliever; “Then cause it you to rise from the west”- Meaning, this compelled him to bring proof if he was truthful in his claim. When Ibrahim uttered this to him about which he neither had the ability to present an ambiguity to make Ibrahim’s proof look confusing nor could he find something to disparage it, he was utterly defeated – lost for an answer, his proof cut off and his ambiguous statement toppled. (2)

The Quraish Attempted to Starve The Prophet and His Close Relatives

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: On the Day of Nahr at Mina, the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “Tomorrow we shall stay at Khaif Bani Kinana where the pagans had taken the oath of disbelief.” He meant (by that place) Al-Muhassab where the Quraish tribe and Banu Kinaanah concluded a contract against Banu Haashim and Banu Abdul-Muttalib or Banu Al-Muttalib that they would not intermarry with them or deal with them in business until they handed over the Prophet to them. (3)

Usamah Bin Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him, said: I asked the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, during his Hajj,”O Allah’s Messenger! Where will you stay tomorrow?” He said, “Has Aqeel left for us any house?” He then added, “Tomorrow we will stay at Khaif Bani Kinana, i.e. Al-Muhassab, where Quraish (polytheists) took an oath of disbelief in that Banu Kinana allied with Quraish against Banu Hashim on the terms that they would not deal with the members of the tribe or give them shelter.” (4)

The incident mentioned in the above narrations took place when the Makkan polytheists had a meeting at a place called the Valley of Al-Muhassab, where they established an alliance against Banu Hashim and Banu Al-Muttalib. They agreed not to have any business transactions with them, no marriage ties, no visits, and no verbal communication with the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and those who aided him. So, Abu Talib – the Prophet’s uncle who stood by him at the time – decided to move to a valley in the eastern suburbs of Makkah, then Banu Hashim and Banu Al-Muttalib also moved and they were all confined to a narrow passage. They remained in that situation for three years- from the 7th year of the Prophet’s Prophethood until the 10th year. It was a very repressive embargo that brought extreme hardship, and in addition to this, the vile polytheists bought everything that reached Makkah in order that nothing reached Banu Al-Mutallib and Banu Haashim. The situation became so bad that they had to eat the leaves of trees and animal skins, and children constantly cried due to hunger. They had nothing besides very little provision that was sometimes delivered secretly by some people in Makkah who sympathised with them. During the sacred months when fighting was not permitted, they used to go and buy provisions, but the prices of goods were inflated so that they would not be able to afford them. However, this great hardship never stopped the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] from calling to the truth, rather he used to go to the Kabah and call people to Islam. By the grace of Allah, the agreement between the polytheists ended in the 10th year of the Prophet’s Prophethood, because some of them could no longer bear to see their relatives in that situation. (5)

The Quraish implored the Prophet to refrain from interfering with their food supplies, even though they had previously engaged in the same wrongdoing when they were in a position of power

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him] reported: “The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, sent a troop of fighters towards Najd and they brought a man from the tribe of Banu Haneefah who was called Thumamah bin Uthaal. He was then tied to one of the pillars of the Masjid. The Prophet went to him and said, “What have you got, O Thumama?” He replied, “I have got a good thought, O Muhammad! If you should kill me, you would kill a person who has already killed somebody, and if you should set me free, you would do a favor to one who is grateful, and if you want property, then ask me whatever wealth you want.” So, he was left till the next day when again the Prophet said to him, “What have you got, O Thumama?” He said, “What I have already told you”. The Prophet left him till the day after, and said to him again, “What have you got, O Thumama?” He said, “I have got what I told you. So the Prophet said, “Set him free”. Then Thumamah) went to a garden of date palm trees near the Masjid, took a bath, entered the Masjid, and then said, “I testify that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, and also testify that Muhammad is His Messenger! By Allah, O Muhammad! There was no face on the surface of the earth most disliked by me than yours, but now your face has become the most beloved face to me. By Allah, there was no religion most disliked by me than yours, but now it is the most beloved religion to me. By Allah, there was no town most disliked by me than your town, but now it is the most beloved town to me. Your troops arrested me (at the time) when I was intending to perform the `Umra. And now what do you think?” The Prophet gave him good tidings of good in this world and the next, and ordered him to perform the `Umra. So when he came to Makkah, someone said to him, “You have become a Sabian?” He replied, “No! By Allah, I have submitted to Islam with Muhammad, Allah’s Messenger. No, by Allah! Not a single grain of wheat will come to you from Yamamah unless the Prophet gives his permission.” (6)

The Prophet asked Thumamah, “What have you got O Thumamah?” He replied that he has good thoughts about the Prophet- Meaning, “You O Muhammad never oppress anyone, rather you are from those who pardon and do good”. So after he was set free, he entered Makkah to perform Umrah and then pronounced the Talbilya and he was the first to enter Makkah in that manner, so Quraish grabbed him and said, “You have the audacity to do this to us”, and they wanted to kill him; then a person amongst the Quraish said, “Leave him because you are in need of food from Yamaamah (i.e. from his land)”, so they released him. Then he said to them, “By Allah! Not a single grain of wheat will come to you from Yamamah unless the Prophet gives his permission.” Ibn Hisham said, “Then Thumamah returned to Yamamah and prevented the Quraish from bringing any food to Makkah, so the Quraish wrote to the Prophet saying, “Indeed, you command people to keep good the ties of kinship”, so the Prophet wrote to Thumamah to allow them to transport their food”.(7)

True Believers’ Attitude Towards Feeding Those in Need, Including Captured Combatants

Allah [The Exalted] informed us of some of the qualities of the Abrar [The pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil]: ويُطۡعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ – And they give food, in spite of their love for it]- Meaning, they are in a state in which they love wealth and food, but they give precedence to the love of Allah over the what their souls love and seek to feed the people who deserve and need it the most; [مِسۡكِينً۬ا وَيَتِيمً۬ا وَأَسِيرًا – the Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive (8)]; saying, [إِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُكُمۡ لِوَجۡهِ ٱللَّهِ -We feed you seeking Allah’s Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you] – Meaning, to seek Allaah’s Reward. Mujaahid and Ibn Jubayr [may Allaah have mercy upon them] said, “As for these people, they did not make this statement, but Allaah knows this is what is in their hearts, so He praised them for it as an exhortation for the one who desires to do so”. [لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمۡ جَزَآءً۬ – We wish for no reward]- Meaning, by way of actions; [وَلَا شُكُورًا – nor thanks]- Meaning, by way of statement. (9)

[إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوۡمًا عَبُوسً۬ا قَمۡطَرِيرً۬ا – Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)]. [فَوَقَٮٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٲلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمِ وَلَقَّٮٰهُمۡ نَضۡرَةً۬ وَسُرُورً۬ا – So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy]. [Surah Al-Insan. 8-11] [End of quote]

Indeed, the way of the Messenger of Allah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] stands as the only truly exemplary path to follow in all matters of life. In our time, we have seen the harsh treatment of prisoners of war by some soldiers acting under the influence of global powers in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. We have also observed the actions of ruthless groups such as Al Qaeda, Al Shabab, ISIS, Boko Haram, and the Zionist army led by Netanyahu, who have committed grave injustices during conflicts. In contrast, we can reflect on the compassionate way the Messenger and his companions treated Thumamah, may Allah be pleased with him. In a similar vein, while it is undeniable that Netanyahu’s Zionist forces have perpetrated a greater number of transgressions than Hamas, it remains utterly indefensible to rationalize Hamas’s assaults on non-combatants and unarmed civilians under Netanyahu’s administration. Read the article: Just Rules of Fighting in the Sharīʿah of Islām Compared to Genocidal, Ethnic-Cleansing, Tribal-Vengeance Doctrines and Excesses of Trojan-Horse Muslim Extremists: https://abuiyaad.com/a/amalekite-genocide-doctrine-gaza

Also, in our era we’ve witnessed some globalists as well as Netanyahu’s henchmen placing sanctions on their opponents, often hurting innocent civilians more than the ones they claim to be targeting. However, consider how the Prophet handled the hostile Quraysh when Thumamah said to them spoke to them, “By Allah! Not a single grain of wheat will come to you from Yamamah unless the Prophet gives his permission”. They wrote to the Messenger and pleaded with him, so he allowed them to freely carry their food, even though they were his staunchest enemies who sought to starve him and Banu Hashim; rather they even attempted to murder him.

We ask Allah to grant us the ability to follow the authentic Sunnah of the Messenger because that is the only path to salvation, as Allah [The Exalted] stated: [لَقَدۡ كَانَ لَكُمۡ فِيہِمۡ أُسۡوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ۬ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرۡجُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلۡأَخِرَ‌ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡغَنِىُّ ٱلۡحَمِيدُ – Certainly, there has been in them an excellent example for you to follow, for those who look forward to (the Meeting with) Allah (for the reward from Him) and the Last Day. And whosoever turn away, then verily, Allah is Rich (Free of all wants), Worthy of all Praise]. [Surah Al-Mumtahinah. 6]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shirk: The Costliest Mistake In the Annals of Human History and The Evil of Venerating Those Responsible for It Under The Pretence of Admiring Advancements of Worldly Sciences

Allah [The Exalted] says:

Mankind were one community and Allah sent Prophets with glad tidings and warnings, and with them He sent the Scripture in truth to judge between people in matters wherein they differed. And only those to whom (the Scripture) was given differed concerning it after clear proofs had come unto them through hatred, one to another. Then Allah by His Leave guided those who believed to the truth of that wherein they differed. And Allah guides whom He wills to a Straight Path. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayah 213]

Ibn Abbas [may Allah be pleased with him and his father] said, “Between Nuh and Adam, ten generations followed the right path of worshipping Allah alone. However, they eventually differed and began worshipping idols, false gods, and images. Then Allah sent Messengers with clear signs and proofs”. [1] The practice of attributing partners to Allah originated with the nation of Prophet Nuh [peace be upon him] when they began exaggerating the status of righteous individuals and arrogantly ignored the teachings of their Prophet. Allah says:

And they have said: ‘You shall not leave your gods, nor shall you leave Wadd, nor Suwa’, nor Yaghuth, nor Ya’uq, nor Nasr]. [2]

Ibn Abbas [may Allah be pleased with him and his father] stated that these individuals were righteous individuals from prophet Nuh’s nation. After their demise, Shaytaan influenced the people to erect idols at the locations where they used to gather and to refer to these idols by their names. Although the idols were established, they were not worshipped until the original initiators had passed away and the true origin of the idols became unclear. It was at this point that people began to worship them. [3]

The Destructive Consequences of Shirk

Allah [The Most High] says:

حُنَفَآءَ لِلَّهِ غَيۡرَ مُشۡرِكِينَ بِهِۦ‌ۚ وَمَن يُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا خَرَّ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتَخۡطَفُهُ ٱلطَّيۡرُ أَوۡ تَهۡوِى بِهِ ٱلرِّيحُ فِى مَكَانٍ۬ سَحِيقٍ۬

Hunafaa’ Lillaah [i.e. worship none but Allaah], not associating partners [in worship, etc.] with Him; and whoever associates partners to Allaah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had thrown him to a far-off place]. [Surah Al-Hajj. Ayah 31]

This is the situation of one who ascribes partners with Allah in worship. Iman is like the sky, protected and elevated. So, when someone abandons Iman, it is like falling from the sky and facing terrible consequences and disasters, snatched by birds (of prey) that tear them apart. When someone who ascribes partners with Allah in worship abandons the protection of Iman, the devils attack them from all directions, destroying their religion and the (purpose) of their worldly life. [4]

In this verse, Allah has clearly stated that those who ascribe partners with Him and do not repent before their death will face utter destruction. They will have no escape and no chance of salvation. Their fate is like that of someone who falls from the sky, lands on the earth, and gets torn apart completely. The birds then seize their remains and the wind scatters them far away, carried by its powerful gusts. Therefore, anyone who finds themselves in such a predicament will find no solace or security. Instead, they will face inevitable destruction because what normally takes place is that those who plummet from the sky to the ground suffer severe dismemberment upon impact. The birds) of prey) seize his limbs and disperse with them, or the wind carries him to a distant land, thus leading to an unavoidable demise. The noble verse highlights the inevitable destruction faced by those who ascribe partners with Allah, an affair reiterated in another part of the Qur’an as follows:

إِنَّهُ ۥ مَن يُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدۡ حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ وَمَأۡوَٮٰهُ ٱلنَّارُ‌ۖ

Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode]. [Surah Al-Maa’idah. Ayah 72]

Allah [The Exalted] said: [إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ أَن يُشۡرَكَ بِهِ – Verily, Allah does not forgive (a person the sin of associating partners with Him in worship), but He forgives lesser than that to whomsover He wills]. [Surah An-Nisaa Ayah 48]

Various verses demonstrate that this inevitable punishment is reserved for those who die while committing shirk and do not seek forgiveness. However, for those who repent before their death, Allah will forgive them, as sincere worship of Him erases previous sins. There are several verses regarding this, such as Allah’s statement:

قُل لِّلَّذِينَ ڪَفَرُوٓاْ إِن يَنتَهُواْ يُغۡفَرۡ لَهُم مَّا قَدۡ سَلَفَ

Say to those who have disbelieved, if they cease (from disbelief) their past will be forgiven]. [Surah Al-Anfaal. Ayah 38]

Allah says:

And verily, I am indeed Forgiving to him who repents, believes (in My Oneness, and associates none in worship with Me) and does righteous good deeds]. [Surah Taahaa. Aayah 82] However, if one’s repentance is at the time of death [i.e. when the soul reaches the throat], it will not benefit him. [5]

Venerating The Advocates of Shirk Under The Pretence of Admiring Advancements of Worldly Sciences

The individuals at Daily Sabah are in dire need of a significant reminder, given the title they have assigned to one of their articles: “Archaeologists reshaped world history in 2022 with new discoveries.” According to their claims, these discoveries include the Oldest predator fossil, Tuscan statues dating back 2,300 years, the First-ever amputation, and Shipwrecks and gods. https://www.dailysabah.com/life/history/archaeologists-reshaped-world-history-in-2022-with-new-discoveries

If Muslims authored this article, it serves as a reminder that they are investing their time in matters that hold no benefit for them in the afterlife. Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him] stated:

“The focus on artefacts by Archaeologists in this era was not present during the era of the Prophet’s companions and the pious predecessors. Instead, Muslims began to imitate the Europeans and Americans, who aimed to revive pre-Islamic nationalistic traits like Pharaonism, Babylonianism, and Phoenicianism in the Muslim lands. They were largely successful in achieving these objectives, leading to the emergence of pre-Islamic national pride and the glorification of these nationalistic identities in Muslim societies. Imam Al-Bukhaaree said: “Abdullah Bin Muhammad Al-Ju’fee narrated to us that Abdur Razzaaq narrated to them from Az-Zuhree who narrated from Salim, who narrated from Ibn Umar who said that when the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] passed by Al-Hijr, he said, ‘Do not enter the dwelling places of those people who were unjust to themselves unless you enter in a weeping state lest the same calamity similar to theirs should befall you’. Then he covered his head and increased his speed till he crossed the valley. Yahyah Bin Bukayr narrated to us who said that Malik narrated to us from Abdullah Bin Deenaar who reported from Ibn Umar who said that Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said to his companions who were at Al-Hijr, “Do not enter upon these people who are being punished, except in a weeping state, lest the same calamity similar to theirs should befall you”. [Sahih Al-Bukhaari. Numbers 4419 and 4420]

The two Prophetic reports illustrate the peril of entering into the places of those who have earned Allah’s wrath and were consequently annihilated for their disbelief and rejection of the prophets and their message. The Prophet prohibited entry into such places, except for those who fear Allah and dread His punishment. In cases of dire necessity, he may enter these locations while weeping. It is feared that one who enters the dwellings of those who have been punished may suffer the same punishment. It is legislated for those who approach these dwellings to quickly pass by while covering their faces, following the example of Allah’s Messenger. Do Muslims, including archaeologists and those who encourage them, comprehend what is embodied in this guidance from the Prophet, who speaks not from his desires? Additionally, Allah’s Messenger advised those passing through the valleys of Muhassar to hasten, as it was the location where Allah destroyed the people of the Elephant.

So, do those who dig up the artefacts of Ad, Thamud, the Ashaab Al-Ukh’dud, the Pharaohs, and the Babylonians, follow the teachings of Allah’s Messenger or blindly follow the enemies of Allah who establish partnerships to explore the artefacts of the destroyed nations to entice them (towards) the pride of the pre-Islamic era of ignorance? I and others have read numerous boasting by Muslims or those who ascribe to Islam, such as the statement of one of them, (as follows), “O Misree (i.e. Egyptian)! Be proud of the builders of your glory when people were sleeping”. He boasts about the Pharaonic artifacts such as the pyramids and other than them. [5.1]

However, if the authors of this article from Daily Sabah are non-Muslims, it is important to emphasise to them that the ultimate objective of human existence is to surrender oneself to the Creator through sincere worship, following the teachings of His final Messenger, and refraining from everything that contradicts this path. They must avoid being deceived by these discoveries. Imam As-Sadi [may Allah have mercy upon him] stated:

The greatest evils of knowledge and contradictions arise when one becomes familiar with the creation without acknowledging its Creator, understanding the effects without recognizing the One who brought them into existence, comprehending the causes without acknowledging the One who caused them, and grasping the paths without understanding their true objectives. The lack in this particular form of familiarity is abundant and its negative impact is significant. Indeed, numerous atheists and those who have been misled by them possess expertise in the field of natural sciences. However, they confine themselves solely to this realm and remain oblivious to its connection with its Creator and the One who caused it to exist. Furthermore, when it comes to the marvels and hidden truths embedded within these natural sciences, they perceive themselves as the sole possessors of knowledge in this domain – knowledge that no one else possesses. This inflated sense of superiority leads them to become afflicted with arrogance and self-delusion.

They confine themselves to it and consider it as the result, the objective, and the aim, thus causing significant deviation and deficiency in knowledge and intellect. If they were aware of and affirmed belief in the true Creator and the One Who Controls all the affairs of the Universe – the One who connected the means and causes to His Qadaa Wal-Qadr, they would know that the means and causes are a manifestation of His Perfect Wisdom because Allah [The Exalted] is All-Wise. He placed everything in its rightful place, established a remarkable and orderly system for both the intricate and major matters, and provided everything that is sought after and desired with a means or cause, and a path that leads to it. If they were to connect these means, paths, and outcomes to Allah’s Qadaa Wal Qadr, their knowledge would be perfected and they would attain a level of certainty that cannot be attained by those who have not reached their level. However, they are content and proud of their limited knowledge of these worldly paths and their tangible outcomes, which has led them to arrogance. Thus, the statement of Allah [The Most High] applies to them:

فلما جاءتهم رسلهم بالبينات فرحوا بما عندهم من العلم وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون

Then when their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were glad (and proud) with that which they had of the knowledge (of worldly things): And that at which they used to mock, surrounded them (i.e. the punishment)]. [Surah Ghaafir. Aayah 83]

Allāh said:

And indeed We had firmly established them with that wherewith We have not established you (O Quraish)! And We had assigned them the (faculties of) hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and hearts, but their hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and their hearts availed them nothing since they used to deny the Ayat (Allah’s Prophets and their Prophethood, proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, and they were completely encircled by that which they used to mock at! [Surah Al-Ahqaaf. Ayah 26]

This is the greatest evil outcome of self-admiration and haughtiness without any exceptions, and the most dangerous route that ensnares and deludes numerous individuals; hence, we beseech Allah to bestow upon us the pure knowledge that is fortified by sound intellect, divine text, and sound natural disposition- the knowledge that the servant comprehends in its entirety, and the knowledge that connects the secondary matters to its solid foundational principles, and its methods, reasons, consequences, and results are attributed to the Creator who initiated and created them. The one who holds this knowledge does not disassociate the creation from its Creator, nor separates its impacts from the One who caused them to happen, nor separates the wisdom, the hidden truths, and the incredibly organised systems in the creation from the One who Created and Perfected them, arranged them perfectly, and brought them into being before they did not exist. This knowledge yields the fruits of certainty, leading to inner peace, happiness, and achievement. It yields the fruits of good character and virtuous actions, beneficial for both religious and worldly matters.

As for the sciences of those who have strayed from the prophetic path – as previously mentioned – they are distorted, severed, and stagnant. Its usefulness is comparable to the benefits of physical industries, evident and observable. It does not yield the fruits of sound faith or integrity, nor does it embody mercy or good conduct; rather, its fruits are the opposite. Those with sound intellect and high intelligence are deeply saddened by the objectives and outcomes of these sciences, for a sound intellect comprehends and fully understands matters in all their dimensions. It engages with beneficial knowledge, utilises the talents and skills bestowed upon a servant of Allah, and combines the affairs about one’s well-being in this worldly life and the Hereafter. It encompasses that which benefits both the body and the soul, thoroughly examines principles and consequences, and establishes connections between related matters. Indeed, anyone lacking these qualities is deficient in their intellect, so what about their religion?!

Among the indications of those who have strayed in terms of religion and intellect is their deception by their own opinions and flawed intellects, as well as their ridicule of the intellects of the noblest human beings, including the Prophets, their followers, and those who provide guidance. Their arrogance is evident through their excessive behaviour, rejection of undeniable truths, and deliberate denial of the virtues of those who came before them. By obstructing people from the religion and path prescribed by Allah, they distort the teachings of the Messengers. They dismiss these teachings as outdated and irrelevant, much like the enemies of the Messengers did in the past. Unfortunately, many individuals, especially the young and inexperienced, have been led astray by these false beliefs. They must understand that true intellect can only be attained through divine revelation, the Qur’an, and the guidance brought by the Messenger. Allāh [The Most High] says: [إن في ذلك لآيات لأولي النهى – Verily, in this are proofs and signs for men of understanding]. [Surah Taha. Ayah 54] [لآيات لأولي الألباب – There are indeed signs for men of understanding]. [Surah Al Imran. Ayah 190]

They are people of decent intellect, rightly guided views, and purified manners. Can one find sound intellects that can be anywhere closer to the (perfect, unmatched, unblemished, upright) intellect of the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] without whom the intellects and views cannot be illuminated except through his intellect? The perfection of the intellect is based on how much they have obtained from his intelligence, what he deems to be correct, and his guidance and perfect path which is free from error, so they nourish themselves with its light, guidance and the perfect course it leads to. [6]

Therefore, whether the article at Daily Sabah was written by Muslims or non-Muslims, they need to be reminded about the relationship between us and our forefathers. Allah [The Exalted] says: [قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ سُنَنٌ فَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ – Many similar mishaps [troubles, problems] of life were faced by nations that have passed away before you, so travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who disbelieved]. [Surah Aal Imraan. Verse 137]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Indeed, there were nations like yourselves before you, so look to their evil end. You have to know that the reason behind their evil end was due to their disbelief in the revelations of Allah and disbelief in Allah’s Messengers. They were the forefathers and you are the descendants. The main affair that connects you is your disbelief and the ruling on that disbelief is destruction. [7]

Imam Muhammad Bin Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: If it is said, “What is the benefit in narrating to us the stories of the destroyed nations even though this Ummah will not be destroyed like the destruction of the previous nations before it?”.

The Answer: Truly, there are two advantages to this situation: Firstly, it serves as a reminder of Allah’s blessings upon us by averting the destruction that could have befallen us, highlighting His mercy towards us. Secondly, the punishment inflicted upon wrongdoers in this world may also be a reflection of what awaits them in the Hereafter if they do not repent. This is emphasised in the verse: “Such is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the population of towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is painful and severe. Indeed in that (there) is a sure lesson for those who fear the torment of the Hereafter.” Therefore, it is evident from this verse that a similar fate may await wrongdoers in the Hereafter, and only Allah knows best. A century after the end of the Ottoman Empire

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “The Prophethood will remain amongst you for as long as Allah wills it to be. Then Allah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be the khilafah upon the Prophetic methodology. And it will last for as long as Allah wills it to last. Then Allah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be biting kingship, and it will remain for as long as Allah wills it to remain. Then Allah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be tyrannical (forceful) kingship and it will remain for as long as Allah wills it to remain. Then He will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be a khilafah upon the Prophetic methodology”. Then he (the Prophet) was silent. This article is a brief comment on the assertion made by an individual named Frederic C. Hof, who stated: “A century after the end of the Ottoman Empire, no successor to Istanbul’s sultan-caliph has emerged”.

Indeed, the presence of a khilafah, a Muslim empire or nation state that steadfastly adheres to the Qur’an and Sunnah as understood by the pious predecessors is a blessing that Allah bestows on whomsoever He pleases. A closer look at the rise and fall of the Ottomans reveals the elements that contributed to their success and their eventual decline, all by the Will of Allah. Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon upon him, said: “Whoever contemplates the state the world will find that every rectification is due to Tawhid, singling out Allah in worship and obedience to His Messenger (Muhammad). And every evil in the world, trial, affliction, scarcity (in livelihood), being overpowered by an enemy and other than that is due to opposition to the Messenger and the call to other than (the way of) Allah and His Messenger. Whoever truly contemplates this and examines the state of affairs of the world- since its beginning and until the time Allah will take it away and those upon it, he will realise this regarding himself and others, in general and specific (circumstances). And there is no Might or Power except with Allah –The Most High, The Most Great”. [Bada’i Al-Fawaa’id 3/525-526] Read article by Shaikh Abu Khadeejah, may Allah preserve him: https://abukhadeejah.com/state-of-ummah-causes-of-weakness-means-of-rectification-ebook/

The acknowledgment that the Ottomans gradually experienced a decline in power due to their detachment from the Sunnah is well-documented in numerous historical texts. Nevertheless, this vulnerability was capitalised upon by those who have consistently sought to undermine Muslim governance, irrespective of its strength or frailty.

Shaikh Shamsuddeen Al-Afghani, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated:

Allah, The Most High, guided mankind through Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and through what he brought of clear manifest evidences and guidance – a guidance that could not be described by those who were proficient in giving descriptions and surpassed the knowledge of those with great perception. So, through this guidance, Allah [The Most High] opened the eyes of the blind ones, the ears of the deaf ones and the hearts of the heedless ones. Allah [The Most High] united them upon one religion- the religion of pure Islamic monotheism; Prophet Ibrahim’s [peace be upon him] religion of pure monotheism – after they had been in a state of complete disunity, enmity towards one another, destructive and corrupt creeds. Allah united their hearts and they became true brothers in Islam by way of this great blessing. And thereafter everything that was worshiped besides Allah- such as graves, trees, stones, graven images, idols etc- ceased to exist and all worship was carried out for Allah (alone).

The people followed the true Religion of Islamic monotheism, worshipped Allah alone and established worship sincerely for Allah, except those whom Allah willed that they were to remain as people of polytheism, hypocrisy and followers of the altered and distorted previous scriptures. The darkness of shirk (polytheism) was dispelled and the banner of Tawhid (pure Islamic Monotheism) was raised in the lands amongst the Arabs and non-Arabs. The Messenger of Allah returned to his Lord, whilst Islam was established and in authority-superseding all other ways of life and creeds. Then the rightly guided khulafaa of the Messenger [AbuBakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali] continued upon this path until the two powerful and great nations at the time- Rome and Persia- ended up in humiliation, degradation and in a state of fear after they had been in a state of security, and thus Caesar was restricted and besieged, and khosrau was subdued and destroyed.

So when the enemies of Islam saw that they were unable to do away with this religion, they implanted their disbelieving agents within Islam, who pretended to be Muslims in order to foment confusion, trials and tribulations, and spread Shirk (polytheism) by exaggerating the status of the pious people – exalting their graves through (beliefs and practices) that were not ordained by Allah. So, this Ummah was put to trial through the plots of the [atheist, heretic and hypocrite] Abdullah Bin Saba, who claimed Uloohiyyah for Ali Ibn Abee Talib [i.e. that Ali has the right to be worship]. Abdullaah Bin As-Sabah’s followers were known as the Saaba’iyyah, and later on they were known as the rawaafid (shiites), the ismaaliyyah (shittes), the nusayriyah (shiites) and other than them amongst the Baatiniyyah. They used to worship the graves and the dead, and built places of worship and domed (shaped) shrines upon these graves. So, by way of this they revived the practices of the Jews, the Christians and idol worshippers, and thus the practices of the worshippers of graves in this Muslim Ummah manifested itself in deeds of the rawaafid (shiites).

Furthermore, the books of Greek philosophy that contained the ideas of grave and idol worship were translated into Arabic, so many of those who attributed themselves to Islam busied themselves with these books, such as the likes of Al-Farabee, Ibn Sinaa Al-Hanafi, Naseer At- Toosee the advocator of disbelief and polytheism and other than them amongst those who played tricks with Islam, just as Paul played tricks with Christianity. They were influenced by the ideas of the Greek Philosophers- the creed of grave worship, so they became callers to grave worship through Greek Philosophy.

Thirdly: A people appeared among the Muslims manifesting asceticism. These people were more dangerous to the masses and more severe in misguidance. They were a people who appeared in the garb of the righteous, with tearful eyes smeared with kohl, long flowing beards, elevated turbans, carrying rosary beads and pretending to be calling to the sunnah of the leader of Humankind [Muhammad], whilst secretly practicing the disgraceful acts inherited from the false and vanished religions. And from their plots was that they used to mix manifest lies with the authentic explanations of the Qur’aan and the authentic narrations in order to corrupt the clear proofs of the Qur’an and the Sunnah. These deviant heretics were known as the holooliyyah, ittihaadiyyah Grave worshippers, such as the likes of al-Hallaaj (309ah), Ibn Al-Farid (632ah), Ibn Arabi (638ah), Ibn Sina (669ah) etc [1]

Every Muslim caliphate or empire, following the era of the righteous predecessors, experienced a spectrum of strength and decline, irrespective of its geographical location. This phenomenon was influenced by various internal challenges, including the actions of hypocrites, such as the Rafidah, and the diminishing commitment of Muslims to the practice of the religion as exemplified by the righteous predecessors. Each caliphate – after the period of the pious predecessors – faced its unique combination of strengths and weaknesses, shaped by numerous factors contributing to these dynamics. Similarly, the Ottoman Empire, like other Islamic empires after the time of the righteous predecessors, encountered periods of prosperity, internal strife, and external adversaries, ultimately leading to the loss of its territories, including Palestine, apart from Turkey. [Refer to footnote a]

European ideologues, demagogues, and biased historians often overlook the positive contributions of the early Ottoman Empire when discussing its history. They frequently neglect to acknowledge that some of their own ancestors played significant roles in efforts to dismantle the Ottoman Empire, despite the internal weaknesses that also contributed to its decline. It is widely recognised that European imperialism exploited these vulnerabilities for over four centuries in regions that were once part of various Islamic states and empires following the Ottoman decline. This exploitation resulted not only in widespread looting and destruction but also in a cultural campaign by European powers. This culminated in the establishment of Zionist Palestine in 1948, a development that was unattainable while the Ottoman Empire retained some of its strength. Read: The historical ties between Christian Zionism and Jewish Zionism: https://salafidawah.uk/2024/11/13/the-initial-rise-and-gradual-impact-of-christian-zionism-on-some-european-political-decision-makers/

Mr. Hof cannot discuss this issue without acknowledging the involvement of his ancestors in exploiting this vulnerability, which enabled them to fragment, weaken, and dominate Muslim territories, regardless of whether they were under Ottoman control. Nevertheless, despite this fragmentation and decline lasting over 400 years, Allah has protected the religion and its followers to the present day across various Muslim nations and monarchs. Consequently, wherever Muslims live under a Muslim ruler, they are obligated to practice their religion and obey the ruler. The noble Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, ”Allah is pleased with three things for you: that you worship Him alone and not to associate anything with him in worship, that you all hold onto the rope of Allah and do not be divided, and that you advise the one placed in charge of authority over you”. [2]

The noble Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “I command you to have fear of Allah, and to listen and obey even if a slave is placed in charge of authority over you…”. Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allah preserve him: “Even if a slave is placed in charge of authority over you”; this is from an angle of giving an example – meaning the ruler is not belittled regardless who he is, even if he is a slave. As long as he is a leader of the Muslims, his personality is not belittled; rather his position and rulership is given consideration. As long as he has authority and the oath of allegiance has been given to him, then indeed it is obligatory to obey him [in good], even if he has mistakes….” [3]

Imam Muhammad Ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “It is obligatory to obey the leader even if he is not king. It is well known that the Muslim Ummah – since the early era – have had a Khaleefah and king, and there are leaders of countries. Therefore, if it is obligatory to obey a leader, then more so a king is to be obeyed”. [4]

Imam Ibn Rajab, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “The rulers and the leaders of the believers are to be obeyed and listened to [i.e. in good], whether he is a pious person or a wicked sinner, as well as whoever takes over the khilafah and the people unite behind him and are pleased with him, and the one who overcome the people with the sword until he became the Khaleefah and is named leader of the believers”. [5]

A Muslim is bound to adhere to this obligation in all situations, irrespective of the varying periods of weakness and strength that may arise within a Muslim nation, as previously cited from the words of the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: “The Prophethood will remain amongst you for as long as Allah wills it to be. Then Allah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be the khilaafah upon the Prophetic methodology. Strength is a blessing from Allah, and it can only be attained through obedience to Allah and His Messenger, regardless of whether one is under an Islamic empire, a monarchy, or a nation-state. This matter is not contingent upon the analyses of Mr. Hof and his ilk. We once again refer to the words of Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him: “Whoever contemplates the state the world will find that every rectification is due to Tawheed, singling out Allaah in worship and obedience to His Messenger (Muhammad). [6]

Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allah preserve him, stated:

The truth is present, as Allah said: [إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ – Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur’an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)].

And that Allah may test (or purify) the believers (from sins) and destroy the disbelievers.

This admonition by Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allah protect him, serves as a poignant reminder that despite the gradual decline of the Ottoman Empire resulting from a lack of proper commitment to the Sunnah, Allah provided the Ummah with Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab, may Allah bestow mercy upon him, and his helpers, may Allah have mercy upon them, to revive foundations of pure Islamic monotheism and adherence to the Sunnah. We ask Allah:

O Allah! By Your Knowledge of the unseen and by Your Power over creation, let me live if life is good for me, and let me die if death is good for me; O Allah! I ask You to grant me (the blessing of having) fear of You in private and public, and I ask You (to make me utter) a statement of truth in times of contentment and anger, and I ask You for moderation when in a state of wealth and poverty, and I ask you for blessings that never ceases, and I ask You for the coolness of my eye that never ends, and I ask You (to make me pleased) after (Your) decree; and I ask You for a life of (ease, comfort, tranquillity, etc) after death; I ask You for the delight of looking at Your Face (i.e. in the Hereafter) and yearning to meet You without any harm and misleading trials (coming upon me). O Allah! Adorn us with the adornment of Iman, and make us (from those who are) guided and guiding (others). [8]

O Allah! Rectify my religion for me, which is the safeguard of my affairs; rectify my worldly [affairs], wherein is my livelihood; and rectify my Afterlife to which is my return; and make life for me [as a means of] increase in every good and make death for me as a rest from every evil. Innovators Hide behind Great Imams of Sunnah to Spread their Innovations – Shaykh Rabee

This behaviour is one of the behaviours of the people of innovation and discord, it is inevitable that they (attempt to) hide behind a prominent figure. The Qadariyyah hid behind Al-Hasan Al-Basri (rahimahullah) and wrote, spread and composed treatises falsely and deceitfully attributing the deviant belief regarding Al-Qadr to Al-Hasan, although he was not one of them and perhaps they still claim that Al-Hasan Al-Basri was one of them – may Allah disfigure them and absolve him of them.

The Khawarij were hiding behind another great figure, Abu Al-Sha’tha Jabir bin Zaid, one of the elder students of Ibn Abbas behind whom the Khawarij hid.

These are the tricks of the people of innovation in religious matters, because their innovations do not spread if they do not hide behind the Imams of Islam, and you see that the Ash’aris attach themselves to the Imams, meaning: a man from the Ash’aris may have a Maliki school of thought [in the subsidiary matters], but he attributes his Ashari Aqeedah to Malik and his Sufism he attributes to Malik, and likewise the Maturidis claim to be affiliated with Abu Hanifah and they are Maturidis, and their school of thought is derived from the school of thought of Jahm ibn Safwan, and all the people of deviant paths hide behind the Imams of Islam, the Zaidis hide behind Zaid, the Rafidis hide behind Ja’far al-Sadiq and Ahl al-Bayt, because their rejected creeds do not spread except through tricks and hiding behind the Imams. This is what many people do. The Qutubiyyah hav not spread except due to hiding behind Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, Ibn Baz, al-Albani, Ibn Uthaymeen, and other respected figures who are accepted by the people of sunnah worldwide. They say: We are students of Ibn Baz, we follow the methodology of the Salaf, and we are from the students of al-Albani, we are students of Ibn Uthaymeen. They deceive people that these imams are with them. Their tricks/deceit fool many young people who love knowledge, love scholars, love Islam, and love the truth. However, the tricks of these people deceive many people, and they fall into their traps.

Adh-Dharee’ah vol.1 pg. 101-102

Allah Exposes Those Who Feign Adherence to the Truth – Shaykh Abdus Salaam Burjis

Today there are many who ascribe to the Sunnah and adorn themselves with the clothing of the people of Sunnah, so much so that it is not possible (for many) to distinguish between the true people of Sunnah and other than them in an easy manner, and those who wear the garbs of Sunnah and pretend to adhere to the Sunnah do not do so except in order to destroy the unity of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah, attempting to split their ranks, and pitting them against one another. All of this in order to raise the banner of innovation and so that it’s armies prevail, however:

يَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِين

they were plotting and Allah too was planning, and Allah is the Best of the planners. (Al-Anfaal: 30)

Therefore, no matter how much someone infiltrates or hides among the People of Sunnah and no matter how deceptively he puts on their garbs, Allah will tear his cover away and expose his affair, a person does not hide (amongst the people of Sunnah), except that Allah, Glory be to Him, the Most High, brings his hidden affair out through slips of the tongue and expressions of the face.

[1] Manhaj principles remain intact regardless of books taught or presence – in Greenlane – of Shaikh from abroad! [Abu Makkah’s companion – (Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq) Reminded]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allaamah Ubaid Bin Abdillah Al-Jaabiri [may Allah have mercy upon him] was asked: This questioner says: What is obligated to the common Salafis concerning those du’aat (callers) about whom the scholars differ in their commendations and criticisms, regardless of whether they (i.e. the common Salafis) are aware or unaware of their mistakes (i.e. the mistakes of those callers)?

Answer: I say: I advise you; neither accept cassettes nor books except those of a person whom you know to be upon the Sunnah and a witness of that is established for him—the one well-known to be upon the Sunnah and an opposition to it is not manifested from him. This is an (abiding) general principle applied to him whilst he is alive and after his death. The one who passed away and we regarded him to be upon the Sunnah, then in our view he is upon the Sunnah and we ask Allah to keep him firm upon it in the afterlife [i.e. Allah grants him firmness to answer the questions in the grave due to adherence to the Sunnah (Tawheed and following the Messenger) and resurrects him in the afterlife as a person of Sunnah] just as he was kept firm upon it whilst he was alive…Ameen. This is the first affair. If the affair of a person is hidden from you–the one whose books and cassettes are famous and his fame is widespread–then ask those who are well acquainted with him and those who know about his state of affairs. That is because neither is the Sunnah hidden nor are its people. A man’s Tazkiyah (i.e. the clear witness that he is upright upon the Sunnah) are his actions. His Tazkiyah are his actions that he is upon the Sunnah. It is the witness and the people mention him with it during his life and after his death. None hides behind the Sunnah– the people beguiled by him, gathered around him to learn, adhered to him, became dependent on him, and accepted everything he said–except that Allah will reveal his affair, uncover and expose his concealed state of affairs to specific individuals and the general public, regarding what was hidden and apparent of his deception, his mixing truth with falsehood, his plots and deceitful practices. Allah facilitates men of virtue, intelligence, wisdom, strength, and exceptional natural ability–possessors of knowledge, skill, and sound understanding of the religion–through whom He (Allah) unveils the affair of that trickster, dubious, and deceitful person.

Therefore, it is incumbent upon you that when the state of that person is made clear–the one whose fame is widespread, etc.–then you should be cautious of him as long as he was warned against by those people of knowledge and Imaan who are upon the Sunnah because they will unveil his affair with evidence. And there is no hindrance in unveiling the state of that person who has been warned against by a scholar or scholars with the appropriate etiquettes and in a good manner because that scholar will say to you: “I saw this and that in him, and I saw this and that in the book of such and such, or I heard this or that in the cassette of such and such.” Therefore, you have clear evidence that will unveil what was hidden from you, and that the one whose fame is widespread and whose speech is pleasant hides something of innovation and plotting, which cannot be compared to what he manifests from the Sunnah.

Secondly: The one who knows of a mistake and it is clear to him, then it is not permissible for him to blindly follow a scholar to whom an affair is hidden. And indeed you already heard yesterday that the scholars are not infallible in their Ijtihaadaat. Therefore, it is not permissible to adopt them (i.e. the mistakes of the scholars) as a methodology (to follow).

The Shaikh also said: A scholar from Ahlus Sunnah is only a human, he can be distracted and forgetful, deceived by evil people, or he used to consider that man to be trustworthy–who has now been declared untrustworthy–and he deceives him. The witnesses to this affair are many because many of those whose status has been dropped– due to being declared unreliable based on evidence–are in reality people who wage war against the Sunnah and its people. So, they come along with copies of their books and read them to the distinguished scholars–those whom virtue and leadership are witnessed for them in the religion–and the affair of this trickster and plotter is hidden from that noble scholar, which had he known about it the status of this person would have dropped in his eyes. So, this scholar gives praise based on what he heard. If the book (of this trickster) is printed, it is disseminated and transmitted by his supporters and they spread a good reputation about him. Thus some argue saying, “Such and such praised him– Al-Albaanee, or Ibn Baaz, or Ibn Al-Uthaymeen praised this book. However, these scholars are excused; rather this trickster was hidden from that scholar. So, what remains? We establish the evidence against this [deceiver, trickster, intrigant, and plotter] from his books. We establish the manifest clarifications against him from his books, and we say to the one who argues with us, “Take it, this is his speech”. Therefore, it is obligated to you to be fair, free from that wild and zealous attachment, and from desires that blind a person. It is obligated to you that your search should be for the truth. [1]

Some reminders from Al-Allaamah Ubaid’s [may Allah have mercy upon him] clarification

“A man’s Tazkiyah (i.e. the clear witness that he is upright upon the Sunnah) are his actions. His Tazkiyah are his actions that he is upon the Sunnah. It is the witness and the people mention him with it during his life and after his death”.

“Therefore, it is incumbent upon you that when the state of that person is made clear–the one whose fame is widespread, etc.–then you should be cautious of him as long as he was warned against by those people of knowledge and Imaan who are upon the Sunnah because they will unveil his affair with evidence”. “The one who knows of a mistake and it is clear to him, then it is not permissible for him to blindly follow a scholar to whom an affair is hidden. And indeed you already heard yesterday that the scholars are not infallible in their Ijtihaadaat. Therefore, it is not permissible to adopt them (i.e. the mistakes of the scholars) as a methodology (to follow)”. “A scholar from Ahlus Sunnah is only a human, he can be distracted and forgetful, deceived by evil people, or he used to consider that man to be trustworthy–who has now been declared untrustworthy–and he deceives him. First, we remind Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq that what is given paramount importance is the evidence and acting upon it, but not sheltering behind this or that Shaikh for some time and then returning to one’s corruption after the departure of the Shaikh. [1] An Excerpt. Paraphrased]

[5] Remind those who praise or retweet without clarity that there are those who claim Salafiyyah but follow a misconstrued or so-called balanced path when dealing with ahlul bidah

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhali [may Allah preserve him] said:

After speaking about those who make Takfeer based on falsehood [1] amongst the different factions of the Jahmiyah [2], the Khawaarij [3], the Rawaafid and the Qadariyyah [4], and the reason behind such Takfeer, Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated, “On the opposite side of these people who make Takfeer based on falsehood, there are people who do not know the creed of Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa’ah as it should be, or they know some and are ignorant of some. And perhaps what they know of it, they do not clarify for the people, rather they conceal it. Neither do they forbid Bidah nor censure ahlul bidah and punish them; rather, perhaps they would censure speech related to the Sunnah and the fundamental principles of the religion – completely – and would not differentiate – in that – between what Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah say [i.e. adherents to the sound Prophetic Sunnah and sound unity] and what ahlul bidah wal furqah say [i.e. the proponents of innovation in religious affairs who split (disunite due to their opposition to the correct path)], or they would affirm all their differing Madhabs [creeds, paths] in a manner similar to how the scholars would affirm the different opinions related to affairs of Ijtihaad about which difference of opinion is justified. [5] This path has overwhelmed many of the Murji’ah, some of the jurists, those pursuing the path of asceticism and the philosophers, just as it has overwhelmed – first and foremost – many amongst the people of desires and rhetoric. Both these paths are perverted, outside the Book [i.e. The Qur’an] and the Sunnah”. [End of Quote]

After quoting the above statement of Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi said, “I say, may Allah have mercy on Ibn Tamiyyah. Indeed, he clarified the situation of the people of his era and those before them, then what if he saw the situation of many amongst the Al-Jamaa’aat Al-Hizbiyyah Wal-Bid’iyyah [The Groups of Illegal Partisanship and Bidah [6] who ascribe themselves to Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa’ah and take cover behind them – in particular – to promote their falsehoods! What if he saw them whilst they have definitely gathered between the Madhabs [creeds paths] of the two groups- the khawaarij and those who follow their way in pronouncing Takfeer in the subject matter of Al-Haakimiyyah [7] and the way of the Mur’jiah [8] in the manner they approach the affair of people who are upon the big and numerous innovations in religious affairs, and equating innovation in religion to those affairs of the religion in which Ijtihaad is justified, whose people are rewarded alongside a refutation against their mistakes! In the view of these people, the leaders of Misguidance and Bidah are like the Imams of Guidance and Sunnah. [9] [An Excerpt from “Al-Mahajjatul Baydaa Fee Himaayatis Suunatil Gharraa Min Zallaati Ahlil Akhtaa’i Wa Zayghi Ahlil Ahwaa” 117-118]

Finally, Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyah said, “Rather what is obligatory is to clarify that which Allah sent His Messengers with and (revealed) in His Books, propagate that which the Messengers brought from Allah and fulfil the covenant which Allah took from the scholars. Therefore, it is obligatory to know that which the Messengers brought, believe in it, propagate it, call to it, striving with it, weigh up all that which the people embark upon – [statements, actions, religious fundamentals and subsidiary issues pertaining to the apparent actions of the Limbs and affairs related to actions of the heart]- under the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, neither following desires [through] customs, a school of law, a religious order, a leader or a predecessor, nor following conjecture through a weak hadeeth or corrupt analogy, regardless whether it is an analogy that offers some degree of certainty or not, or blindly following someone who it is not obligated to follow his statement and action because Allah -in His Book – has censured those who follow conjecture and that which their souls desire, whilst they abandon following that which came to them from their Lord of Guidance”. Footnote5: What is Ijtihaad: https://www.abukhadeejah.com/tolerated-differing-and-impermissible-differing-in-islaam/ ]

Amr bin Al-Aas [may Allah be pleased with him] narrated that he heard Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] saying, ‘’If a Mujtahid gives a verdict according to the best of his knowledge and his verdict is correct, he will receive a double reward, and if he gives a verdict according to the best of his knowledge and his verdict is wrong, even then he will get a reward.’’ [Bukhari Number 7352]

Few Issues From This Hadeeth

[a] A Mujtahid (a scholar who strives to reach a judgement) is not deprived of reward. [b] The judgement of a non-Mujtahid is different from that of a Mujtahid. Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said that the one who speaks about the religion without knowledge and out of ignorance [is guilty of] lying and sinning. The one who intentionally speaks to oppose the truth is threatened with entry into the fire of hell, as opposed to the affair of the one who speaks based on permissible Ijtihaad, for indeed he strives, fears Allaah as much as he is able, desires to seek knowledge as much as he was able, speaks for the sake of Allaah, knows the stronger proof and speaks based on that. This person is given two rewards if he is correct; but if he is mistaken, he receives one reward. [c] A Mujtahid can be correct or mistaken. [Arba’oona Hadeethaa Fee Usoolil Fiqh. pages 32-33]

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee said, “We do not say that there are people of ijtihaad amongst ahlul bidah because they are followers of desires, and Allaah and His Messenger have testified to this. The misguided innovator stirs up discord and errs, and then says to you, ‘This is ijtihaad’. When Hikmatiyaar and the misguided parties [in Afghanistan] murdered Shaikh Jameel Ur-Rahmaan, they said: ‘This is ijtihaad.’ They do not fall into an affair of misguidance or a calamity except that they say, “This is ijtihaad.” This is [tantamount] to diluting Islaam, falsehood, misguidance, bidah and confounding truth with falsehood, when the mistakes of the [true and qualified scholars of ijtihaad]- for which they are rewarded- are placed at the same level with innovation, about which the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] declared to be a path that will lead to the hell fire”.
