Creating a Culture or Climate of Fear In Order to Hide Truth- [An Inheritance From Ancient Disbelievers And Enemies of The Messengers]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

They said: “Verily! These [i.e. Moosaa and Haaroon (alayhismas salaam)] are two magicians. Their object is to drive you out from your land with magic, and overcome your chiefs and nobles.

Allaah [The Exalted] said

He [Fir’awn] said: “Have you come to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moosaa? “Then verily, we can produce magic the like thereof; so appoint a meeting between us and you, which neither we, nor you shall fail to keep, in an open wide place where both shall have a just and equal chance (and beholders could witness the competition).” [Moosaa] said: “Your appointed meeting is the day of the festival, and let the people assemble when the sun has risen (forenoon).” So Fir’awn withdrew, devised his plot and then came back. Musa (Moses) said to them: “Woe unto you! Invent not a lie against Allah, lest He should destroy you completely by a torment. And surely, he who invents a lie (against Allah) will fail miserably.” [Surah Taa Haa. Aayaat 57-61]

He [Fir’awn] claimed that the Aayaat which Moosaa [alayhis salaam] showed him were nothing more than sorcery and illusions, and that the aim behind them was to drive them from their land and take it over. Fir’awn’s statements were intended to influence his people, because people are naturally attached to their homelands and it is difficult for them to abandon them. He told them that this was Moosaa’s [alayhis salaam] goal, so that they would hate and oppose him.

So, it were as if he was saying to Moosaa [alayhis salaam], “We’ll bring you sorcery that is similar to yours, therefore give us a little while” and “make a meeting between us and you, which neither we, nor you shall fail to keep, in an open wide place where both shall have a just and equal chance (and beholders could witness the competition)”- Meaning, let us meet at a vicinity where everyone can see what is taking place. So Moosaa [alayhis salaam] said: “Your appointed meeting is the day of the festival, and let the people assemble when the sun has risen (forenoon)” – Meaning, let all the people gather in the forenoon. Moosaa [alayhis salaam] asked for this because the day of the festival and its forenoon was a time during which people usually gathered in large numbers and they would be able to witness events in reality, which would not be possible at other times.

“So Fir’awn withdrew, devised his plot and then came back”- Meaning, he gathered everything within his ability to challenge Moosaa [alayhis salaam] and sent agents to the cities to get all the skilled sorcerers. Sorcery was rife in that era and its knowhow was something greatly sought after, so Fir’awn gathered a huge number of sorcerers and both him and Moosaa [alayhi salaam] proceeded to the designated place – at the agreed time, and the people also gathered for the event. It was a big gathering, and attendees included men, women, chiefs, notables and the common folk- young and old. The people were encouraged to attend, and it was said to the people – as Allaah stated in another Aayah:

And it was said to the people: “Are you (too) going to assemble? “That we may follow the sorcerers [who were on Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) religion of disbelief] if they are the winners.” [Surah Ash-Shu’araa. Aayaat 39-40]

So, when they gathered from all the cities, Moosaa [alayhis salaam] admonished them, saying: “Woe unto you! Invent not a lie against Allah, lest He should destroy you completely by a torment. And surely, he who invents a lie (against Allah) will fail miserably”- Meaning, do not support the falsehood you follow by way of your sorcery whilst seeking to overcome the truth and fabricating lies against Allah, lest He destroys you through a punishment and your efforts and fabrications come to nothing, then  neither will you reach the victory you seek after and high status in the presence of Fir’awn and his chiefs, nor will you be safeguarded from Allaah’s torment.

Truthful statements do have an effect on people’s hearts and it is not surprising that the debate between the sorcerers ceased after they heard Moosaa’s [alayhis salaam] statements and they were frighten. It may be that one of the affairs they debated was their doubt as to whether Moosaa [alayhis salaam] was upon truth or not? However, they did not reached an agreement at that point, so that Allaah may bring about that which was already decreed, and so that: [لِّيَهۡلِكَ مَنۡ هَلَكَ عَنۢ بَيِّنَةٍ۬ وَيَحۡيَىٰ مَنۡ حَىَّ عَنۢ بَيِّنَةٍ۬‌ۗ – Those who were to be destroyed (for their rejecting the Faith) might be destroyed after a clear evidence, and those who were to live (i.e. believers) might live after a clear evidence]. [Surah Al-Anfaal. Aayah 42]

So, they spoke secretly and agreed. Allaah said:

Then they debated with one another what they must do, and they kept their talk secret. They said: “Verily! These are two magicians. Their object is to drive you out from your land with magic, and overcome your chiefs and nobles. “So devise your plot, and then assemble in line. And whoever overcomes this day will be indeed successful.

Regarding their statement:

They said: “Verily! These are two magicians. Their object is to drive you out from your land with magic, and put an end to your desired perfect path [by overcoming your chiefs and nobles].

This is similar to what Fir’awn said before, so either it is that Fir’awn and the sorcerers agreed without any prior intention to do so or he commanded them with what he already decided and informed the people. Then they also added to Fir’awn’s statement – as Allaah stated that they said – [وَيَذۡهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ ٱلۡمُثۡلَىٰ – And put an end to your desired perfect path (by overcoming your chiefs and nobles)]- Meaning, the sorcery due to which Moosaa [alayhi salaam] harbours envy against you and desires to gain the upper hand over you, so that he may attain honour, prominence and fame, and so that he becomes the one whom the people go to in order to leam this sorcery to which you have devoted all your time, take away your earnings and the leadership you have by way of it. So, they encouraged one another to do their utmost to overcome Moosaa [alayhi salaam].

Allaah said that they said:

“So devise your plot, and then assemble in line. And whoever overcomes this day will be indeed successful”- Meaning, show what you can do together, aiding one another, in agreement with one another and be united; “Assemble in line”- Meaning, because that would make your task easier, instil greater awe in the hearts of the people and so that none amongst you does not do lesser than what he able. You should know that whoever succeeds this day and gains the upper hand will be victorious, because your future will be decided by this day. Amazing how determined and resolute they were in their falsehood, because they employed every means, followed every path they could and utilised every plot by way of which they plotted against the truth; however Allaah did not allow anything else other than that His guidance would be accomplished and that truth would be given the upper hand over falsehood. So, after they plotted and decided their goals, then nothing remained except to act.

Allaah [Exalted] stated:

They said: “O Musa (Moses)! Either you throw first or we be the first to throw?” [Musa (Moses)] said: “Nay, throw you (first)!” Then behold, their ropes and their sticks, by their magic, appeared to him as though they moved fast. So Musa (Moses) conceived a fear in himself. We (Allah) said: “Fear not! Surely, you will have the upper hand. “And throw that which is in your right hand! It will swallow up that which they have made. That which they have made is only a magician’s trick, and the magician will never be successful, no matter whatever amount (of skill) he may attain.” So the magicians fell down prostrate. They said: “We believe in the Lord of Harun (Aaron) and Musa (Moses).” [Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] said: “Believe you in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission? Verily! He is your chief who taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you on the trunks of date-palms, and you shall surely know which of us [I (Fir’aun – Pharaoh) or the Lord of Musa (Moses) (Allah)] can give the severe and more lasting torment.” They said: “We prefer you not over the clear signs that have come to us, and to Him (Allah) Who created us. So decree whatever you desire to decree, for you can only decree (regarding) this life of the world. “Verily! We have believed in our Lord, that He may forgive us our faults, and the magic to which you did compel us. And Allah is better as regards reward in comparison to your [Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh)] reward, and more lasting (as regards punishment in comparison to your punishment).” Verily! Whoever comes to his Lord as a Mujrim (criminal, polytheist, disbeliever in the Oneness of Allah and His Messengers, sinner, etc.), then surely, for him is Hell, therein he will neither die nor live. But whoever comes to Him (Allah) as a believer (in the Oneness of Allah, etc.), and has done righteous good deeds, for such are the high ranks (in the Hereafter), ‘Adn (Edn) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), under which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever: such is the reward of those who purify themselves [(by abstaining from all kinds of sins and evil deeds) which Allah has forbidden and by doing all that which Allah has ordained)]. And indeed We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): “Travel by night with Ibadi (My slaves) and strike a dry path for them in the sea, fearing neither to be overtaken [by Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] nor being afraid (of drowning in the sea).” Then Fir’aun (Pharaoh) pursued them with his hosts, but the sea-water completely overwhelmed them and covered them up. And Fir’aun (Pharaoh) led his people astray, and he did not guide them. [Surah Taa Haa. Aayaat 56-79]

The Worldly Life And Worldly Achievements Being Exalted In The Hearts – [An Evil Inheritance From People of The Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhaab [rahimahullaah] stated in Masaa-ilil Jaahiliyyah:

The worldly life was exalted in their hearts, as Allaah [The Exalted] said [that they said]:

Why is not this Qur’aan sent down to some great man of the two towns].

[Surah Az-Zukhruf, Aayah 31]

Commentary

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah] said:

One of the traits of the [people] of Al-Jaahiliyyah [i.e. the people who lived during the Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance] was that the worldly life was exalted in their hearts; so, they regarded the one who possessed [the things of the worldly life] to be honourable and the one who was not in possession of the [things of the worldly life] to be of lowly [status] and despised. And even in the affair of Risaalah [Messengership], which is Allaah’s [absolute choice to choose the one He decides to send as a Messenger], they saw that it should be given to the rich people and not the poor people.  And they said, “Allaah found [none], except an orphan of Abu Taalib to send [as a Messenger]? They were referring to Muhammad [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam]. [   لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍ – And they say: “Why is not this Qur’aan sent down to some great man of the two towns]. [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Aayah 31]. The two towns are Makkah and Madina; and that [great man] in Makkah is Waleed Bin Mugheerah or Habeeb Bin Amr Ath-thaqafee; and it is said that the great man in Taa’if is Urwa Bin Mas’ood.

The people of Al-Jaahiliyyah [i.e. the people who lived during the Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance] said, “If the message was given to one of those two great men, it would have been befitting to be [regarded] a message, but it does not befit them to think that it is given to a poor orphan [i.e. Muhammad-sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam]. Allaah [The Exalted] said [in response to them]: [ أَهُمۡ يَقۡسِمُونَ رَحۡمَتَ رَبِّكَ‌ۚ – Is it they who would portion out the mercy of your Lord] [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Aayah 32] – Meaning: They interfered in Allaah’s [choice, decrees, decisions etc]. They wanted to portion out Allaah’s Mercy and did not testify to what Allaah portioned out [of His Mercy], even though [ٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ حَيۡثُ يَجۡعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُ – Allaah knows best with whom to place his message] [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayah 24] [Ref 1]

Allaah (The Most High) informed us that the believer amongst the people of Pharaoh said:

“O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” [Ref 2]

Mujaahid (rahimahullaah) narrated: Abdullaah Ibn Umar (radiyallaahu-anhumaa) said: Allaah’s Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) took hold of my shoulder and said: ‘’Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller.’’  The subnarrator added: Ibn Umar Used to say: ‘’If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death.’’ [Ref 3]

The Muslim is like a stranger in this worldly life: The stranger is one residing in a country other than his country.  The worldly life is not the Muslim’s permanent place of residence; rather the Muslim’s permanent place of residence is paradise.  He is in this worldly life to work for entry into Paradise. He takes what is needed from this world to aid him work for entry into paradise.

The Muslim is like a traveller in this worldly life: The traveller takes rest during his journey and then carries on travelling. He does not reside permanently in that place he stopped to take a rest.  In the life of this world the Muslim is that traveller.  In reality he is not a permanent resident in the worldly life because his time in it is very little.  His nights and days take him towards the afterlife.

What is befitting the Muslim with regards to the days, nights, and his health etc! If you reach the morning do not delay good deeds till in the evening because it maybe that you will not reach the evening.  If you reach the evening do not delay good deeds till the morning because it maybe that you will not reach the morning.  Do not delay repentance and righteous deeds till another time.

As long as a person is in a state of good health and wellbeing, he is able to perform fasting, the night prayer etc; but when he becomes sick he is not able to perform fasting, the night prayer etc.  Therefore, as long as Allaah has given you good health, then hasten towards righteous actions because a time will come in which you will be unable to perform them-either due to illness, old age, or senility. Prepare for death and what is to come after it. Allaah gave you this life in order that you busy yourself with what will benefit you in the afterlife. So do not spend your life in play and jest.  [Ref 4]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:

A desire for the afterlife cannot be achieved except by way of Zuhd Fid-Dunyaah [i.e. abstaining from everything that will divert a person from obedience to Allaah], and Zuhd Fid-Dunyaah cannot be accomplished except by way of contemplation in two ways:

The First Contemplation: Contemplation on the worldly life – its quick passage, disappearance, deficiency and low value, its hassles, ordeals, frustrations and troubles, and the end result is that it will finally come to an end- together with loss and regret. Therefore, its seeker [i.e. the one who seeks after it in a blameworthy manner] is neither safeguarded from grief before and after attaining it, nor after it vanishes. This is the first contemplation.

The Second Contemplation: Contemplation on the Afterlife – its closeness [i.e. not very far away], its definite arrival and occurrence, permanent [existence after it takes place], the nobility of the good and happiness it contains, and the difference between it and this worldly life, just as Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections] said: [وَٱلۡأَخِرَةُ خَيۡرٌ۬ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ  – Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting] [Soorah Al-A’laa Ayah 17]. It is a perfect and abiding [enjoyment, happiness etc], but the [worldly pleasures etc] are deficient and will come to an end.

If a person accomplishes these two contemplations, he’ll prefer that which [sound] intellect would give precedence and refrain from that which one should refrain from [i.e. everything in this worldly life that diverts a person from obedience to Allaah and leads to what is forbidden]. Everyone is naturally disposed [to the fact that he or she] does not abandon an immediate benefit and a reachable pleasure, whilst [waiting] for a delayed benefit and an absent pleasure whose [arrival is certainly] expected, except when one’s desire for what is loftier and more virtuous is stronger and the virtue of what is awaited over what is immediately present is manifest.

However, if a person prefers what is deficient and will [eventually] cease to exist [i.e. this worldly life], then that is either because the virtue of [the afterlife] is not manifested to him or due to a lack of desiring what is more virtuous. Both these two states are an indication of weakness in Eemaan, intellect and clear-sightedness, for indeed the one who desires the Dunyaah- the one who gives it precedence and is eager for it, either he testifies [to the fact that] there is that which is more virtuous and everlasting, or he does not testify. If he does not testify [i.e. that the Aakhirah is more virtuous and everlasting], he is completely devoid of Eemaan; however if he testifies to that [i.e. that the Aakhirah is more virtuous and everlasting] but does not give it precedence, then his intellect is corrupt and he has made an evil choice for himself. These two [testimonies] are inevitable and a servant cannot escape them, because giving precedence to the Dunyaah over the Aakhirah is either due to corruption in Eemaan or due to corruption of one’s intellect, and in many cases both of them are combined together [in a person].

And because of this the Messenger of Allaah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] and his companions turned away from the Dunyaah [i.e. they only took what sufficed their needs and did not fall into any blameworthy deed due to it] and turned their hearts away from it. The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said, “What is the world to me? What am I to the world? Verily, the example of this world and myself is that of a rider who seeks shade under a tree, then he moves on and leaves it behind”. [Reported by Imaam Ahmad 3701 and others]

The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said, “What is the example of this worldly life in comparison to the Hereafter other than one of you dipping his finger in the sea? Let him see what he brings forth.” [Reported by Imaam Muslim 2858]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

Verily the likeness of (this) worldly life is as the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, so by it arises the intermingled produce of the earth of which men and cattle eat until when the earth is clad with its adornments and is beautified, and its people think that they have all the powers of disposal over it, Our Command reaches it by night or by day and We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday! Thus do We explain the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, laws, etc.) in detail for the people who reflect. Allah calls to the home of peace (i.e. Paradise, by accepting Allah’s religion of Islamic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds and abstaining from polytheism and evil deeds) and guides whom He wills to a Straight Path.

And put forward to them the example of the life of this world, it is like the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it, and becomes fresh and green. But (later) it becomes dry and broken pieces, which the winds scatter. And Allah is Able to do everything. Wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world. But the good righteous deeds (five compulsory prayers, deeds of Allah’s obedience, good and nice talk, remembrance of Allah with glorification, praises and thanks, etc.), that last, are better with your Lord for rewards and better in respect of hope. [Soorah Al-Kahf’ Aayaat 45-46]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

Know that the life of this world is only play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children, as the likeness of vegetation after rain, thereof the growth is pleasing to the tiller; afterwards it dries up and you see it turning yellow; then it becomes straw. But in the Hereafter (there is) a severe torment (for the disbelievers, evil-doers), and (there is) Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the believers, good-doers), whereas the life of this world is only a deceiving enjoyment. [Soorah Al-Hadeed’ Aayah 57]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present world’s life; but Allah has the excellent return (Paradise with flowing rivers, etc.) with Him. Say: “Shall I inform you of things far better than those? For Al-Muttaqun (the pious – see V.2:2) there are Gardens (Paradise) with their Lord, underneath which rivers flow. Therein (is their) eternal (home) and Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives) [i.e. they will have no menses, urine, or stool, etc.], And Allah will be pleased with them. And Allah is All-Seer of the (His) slaves”. [Soorah Aal Imraan’ Aayaat 14-15]

Allaah [The Most High] said: [ وَفَرِحُواْ بِٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَمَا ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا فِى ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ إِلَّا مَتَـٰعٌ۬ – And they rejoice in the life of the world, whereas the life of this world as compared with the Hereafter is but a brief passing enjoyment. [Soorah Ar-Rad’ Aayah 26]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

Verily, those who hope not for their meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the present world, and those who are heedless of Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.); Those, their abode will be the Fire, because of what they used to earn. [Soorah Yoonus’ Aayaat 7-8]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

O you who believe! What is the matter with you, that when you are asked to march forth in the Cause of Allah (i.e. Jihad) you cling heavily to the earth? Are you pleased with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But little is the enjoyment of the life of this world as compared with the Hereafter. [Soorah At-Tawbah’ Aayah 38] [Ref 2]

And the [following Aayaat] are enough [to show the inferiority and shortness of] the worldly life. Allaah [The Most High] said:

Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years; And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. [Soorah Ash-Shu’araa’ Aayaat 205-207]

Allaah [The Most High] said: [وَيَوۡمَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡ كَأَن لَّمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا سَاعَةً۬ مِّنَ ٱلنَّہَارِ يَتَعَارَفُونَ بَيۡنَہُمۡ‌ۚ – And on the Day when He shall gather (resurrect) them together, (it will be) as if they had not stayed (in the life of this world and graves, etc.) but an hour of a day. They will recognise each other. [Soorah Yoonus’ Aayah 45]

Allaah [The Most High] said: [كَأَنَّہُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَ مَا يُوعَدُونَ لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا سَاعَةً۬ مِّن نَّہَارِۭ‌ۚ بَلَـٰغٌ۬‌ۚ فَهَلۡ يُهۡلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ – On the Day when they will see that (torment) with which they are promised (i.e. threatened, it will be) as if they had not stayed more than an hour in a single day. (O mankind! This Qur’an is sufficient as) a clear Message (or proclamation to save yourself from destruction). But shall any be destroyed except the people who are Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious, disobedient to Allah)]. [Soorah Al-Ahqaaf’ Aayah 35]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

They ask you (O Muhammad) about the Hour, – when will be its appointed time? You have no knowledge to say anything about it; To your Lord belongs (the knowledge of) the term thereof? You (O Muhammad) are only a warner for those who fear it; The Day they see it, (it will be) as if they had not tarried (in this world) except an afternoon or a morning. [Soorah An-Naazi’aat’ Aayaat 42-46]

Allaah [The Most High] said: [وَيَوۡمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ يُقۡسِمُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ مَا لَبِثُواْ غَيۡرَ سَاعَةٍ۬‌ۚ – And on the Day that the Hour will be established, the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) will swear that they stayed not but an hour. [Soorah Ar-Rum’ Aayah 55]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

He (Allah) will say: “What number of years did you stay on earth?” They will say: “We stayed a day or part of a day. Ask of those who keep account.” He (Allah) will say: “You stayed not but a little, if you had only known! [Soorah Al-Mu’minoon’ Aayaat 112-114]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

The Day when the Trumpet will be blown (the second blowing): that Day, We shall gather the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, etc.) Zurqa: (blue or blind eyed with black faces); In whispers will they speak to each other (saying): “You stayed not longer than ten (days).” We know very well what they will say, when the best among them in knowledge and wisdom will say: “You stayed no longer than a day!” [Soorah Taha’ Aayah 102-104]

And Allaah’s Aid is sought and upon Him we place our reliance! [Ref 5]

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi [hafidhahullaah] said:

Many people humble themselves to one another more than they humble themselves to Allaah – The Most High, The Most Great. It is neither permissible for a person to be a slave [i.e. by worshipping anyone] except to Allaah, nor humble himself except to the Greatness of Allaah. Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections] said:

He is Allaah than Whom there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He; the King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allaah! [High is He] above all that they associate as partners with Him.  He is Allaah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms. To Him belong the Best Names. All that is in the heavens and the earth glorify Him. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.  [Surah Al-Hashar’ Aayaat 23-24]

Examine those Aayaat in the last part of Surah Al-Hashar! The statement: [هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ   –  He is Allah than Whom there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He)]: This necessitates Tawheed Al-Uloohiyyah.

The statement: [هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ‌ۖ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ‌ۖ هُوَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ- He is Allaah, than Whom there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He, the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen (open). He is the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful]: This necessitates Tawheed Al-Asmaa Was Sifaat.

And the statement: [هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقُ ٱلۡبَارِئُ ٱلۡمُصَوِّرُ‌ۖ –  He is Allaah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms” necessitates Tawheed Ar-Roboobiyyah].

These few Aayaat in the last part of Surah Al-Hashr necessitate all the categories of Tawheed. [Ref 6]

Finally What Is Al-Jaahilyyah

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah] said:

The ‘Jaahiliyyah Aamma’ [The Pre-Islamic ignorance that was widespread in the world and touched every aspect of life] has ceased to exist; but it remains amongst some people or some of the tribes, or in some of the lands. This is Jaahiliyyah Juz’iy [partial Pre-Islamic Ignorance]. As for the ‘Jahiliyyah Aamma’, this has ceased to exist after the advent of the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam], but some characteristics of Pre-Islamic ignorance remains with some of the people due to statement of the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam], ‘’Among my people there are four characteristics belonging to pre-Islamic period which they do not abandon: boasting of high rank, reviling other peoples’ genealogies, seeking rain by stars, and wailing (i.e. for the dead).’’ [reported by Muslim].” This remains, but it is an aspect of Jaahiliyyah. As for the Jaahiliyyah Aamma, it has ceased to exist. Therefore, it is not permissible to say that the people are in Jaahiliyyah (Pre-Islamic ignorance).

Some [people] say: ‘’ [The people] are in a state of Pre-Islamic ignorance that is more severe than the one before the advent of the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam].’’ The meaning of this [statement of theirs] is a denial of what the Messenger [sallal-laahu-layhi-wasallam] brought – a denial of the Qur’aan, the Sunnah of the Prophet and the abundant knowledge within our hands. Its meaning is that we are in Jaahiliyyah [Pre-islamic ignorance]. This is a mistake, the people are not in Jaahiliyyah, but there remains some of the characteristics of Jaahiliyyah in some individuals- in some nations and tribes; but this is a specific Jaahiliyyah. Therefore, it is obligatory to be acquainted with this affair. [Ref 7]

You Are a Wahhaabi, You Hate The Family of The Prophet! [Absurd Claim of Pathetic Wailers and Heretical Proponents of Self-flagellation On The Day of Aashooraa]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Hadee Al-Waadi’ee [rahimahullaah] said:

Quote:

So, you say to the Raafidah, “Indeed, it is Shirk to call upon other than Allaah when seeking benefit and seeking protection from harm regarding an affair which none can (fulfil) except Allaah.  It is not permissible to invoke Ali Ibn Abee Taalib [radiyallaahu-anhu] or other than him amongst the dead [may Allaah have mercy upon them]…. Indeed, is it permissible to invoke the dead and seek deliverance and rescue from them?’’  They [i.e. Raafidah] say, “You are a Wahhaabi, you hate the family of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)’’.

Allaah [Glorified and Exalted be He] said:

And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: ‘This (Prophet Muhammad) is a sorcerer, a liar.   Has he made the aaliha (gods) (all) into One Ilaah (God – Allaah). Verily, this is a curious thing!’ And the leaders among them went about (saying): “Go on and remain constant to your aaliha (gods)! Verily, this is a thing designed (against you)! We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention!  Has the Reminder been sent down to him (alone) from among us?” Nay! but they are in doubt about My Reminder (this Qur’aan)! Nay, but they have not tasted (My) Torment! [Soorah Saad; Ayah:4-8]

So, you say to the Raafidah: Indeed, it is Shirk to call upon other than Allaah when seeking benefit and seeking protection from harm regarding a matter which none can (fulfil) except Allaah.  It is not permissible to invoke Ali Ibn Abee Taalib [radiyallaahu-anhu] or other than him amongst the dead [may Allaah have mercy upon them], because Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] said:

And those, whom you invoke or call upon instead of Him, own not even a Qitmeer (the thin membrane over the date stone).  If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad) like Him Who is the All-Knower (of each and everything).  O mankind! it is you who stand in need of Allaah, but Allaah is Rich (Free of all wants and needs), Worthy of all praise.’ [Soorah Faatir; Ayah:13-14]

And Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections] said:

‘And who is more astray than one who calls (invokes) besides Allaah, such as will not answer him till the Day of Resurrection, and who are (even) unaware of their calls (invocations) to them?  And when mankind are gathered (on the Day of Resurrection), they (false deities) will become enemies for them and will deny their worshipping.’ [Soorah Ahqaaf. Aayah:5-6]

And Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections] said:

And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allaah, any other ilaah (god), of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kaafiroon (the disbelievers in Allaah and in the Oneness of Allaah, polytheists, pagans, idolaters, etc.) will not be successful. [Soorah Muminoon; Ayah:117]

And if you say, “Indeed others have joined them (i.e. the Mushrikoon) in this (affair)”, so I say, ‘’Whoever joins them in this (affair of shirk) is similar to them”.  Allaah said:

And invoke not besides Allaah, any that will neither profit you, nor hurt you, but if (in case) you did so, you shall certainly be one of the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrong doers).  And if Allaah touches you with hurt, there is none who can remove it but He; and if He intends any good for you, there is none who can repel His Favour which He causes it to reach whomsoever of His slaves He will. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’ [Soorah Yoonus; Ayah:106-107]

When you relate these verses and their likes to the (Rawaafid), and then say to them, “Indeed, is it permissible to invoke the dead and seek deliverance and rescue from them?’’  They say, “You are a Wahhaabi, you hate the family of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)’’. This is the same (affair) regarding the extreme Soofees; when you say, “Indeed, the awliyaa can neither benefit nor harm”, they say, “You hate the awliyaa”.

Indeed, Mighty is the word that comes out of the mouths of these two sects; they utter nothing but a lie.

The Cure for Sorrow and Grief – Shaykh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan

Some people if they are afflicted with grief they go to the entertainers and musicians, to remove it from himself he says. And this increases him (in grief), and Allah’s Aid is sought. It increases him in grief and sadness.

As for if he went to the Qur’an and listened to the Qur’an and remembrance, what he found (of sadness and grief) would have stopped by the Permission of Allah.

Some people when the grief intensifies he kills himself, he commits suicide, and Allah’s Aid is sought. He kills himself expecting this to be the removal (of his difficulty). And this increases him (in grief) because if he kills himself he goes to the Fire.

From where has he freed himself (of his grief)? He has not freed himself.

There is no cure except with patience, and the remembrance of Allah and listening to the Qur’an and Sunnah.
This is the cure. The cure is with you right in front of you. However some of the people, or in fact many of the people are prevented (from being guided) to this cure.

So they flee to its opposite, they go to singers, the musicians, the entertainment theatres. Believing that this will remove (the grief) from himself, this increases his affliction, increases his deterioration.
