Manhaj Principle Extracted from Hadeeth “Make for us a Dhaat Anwaat” – Shaykh Abu Abdillah Khalid Adh-Dhufayri (hafidahullah)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the Shaykh’s Aqeedah class He said there’s a manhaj benefit we can extract from this hadeeth and it is that Ahlus Sunnah have a Qā’īdah:

قاعدة أهل السنة الاجتماع وليس التجميع

Ahlus Sunnah unite upon the truth and do not merely gather numbers.

الفرق بين التجميع و الاجتماع

Tajmee’: is to gather numbers for the purpose of increasing numbers in your party and group.

Ijtimaa’ – is unity upon the truth; adhering and clinging to the truth.

This is a refutation against the likes of Ikhwan al-Muslimeen – those who have their “golden” principle or as Shaykh Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) called it, “Wooden principle”, saying “We unite upon that which we agree upon and excuse one another for what we disagree about”, gathering numbers is the goal for them.

How is this extracted from the hadeeth?

The Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa salam) was on his way to a military expedition; do you need numbers for a military expedition, or not?

However, despite the need for numbers; the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa salam) focused and gave concern to unity upon the truth and that which is pleasing to Allah.

We can see that Ahlul Bid’ah and people of desires clearly oppose this principle.

We ask Allah to reward the Shaykh for bringing this benefit and explaining to us.

Which of Us Truly Loves Allah & His Messenger – Shaykh al-Uthaymeen

Al-Allaamah al-Faqeeh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) in explanation of aayatul imtihaan:

‎قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Say (O Muhammad) if you (truly) love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Aali Imraan: 31)

This verse is named the aayatul mihna, meaning the verse of examination, because a people claimed that they loved Allah, so Allah said to the Messenger,

قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ

Say (O Muhammad) if you (truly) love Allah

This is the sign of a persons love for his Lord, that they follow the Messenger (peace and blessings upon him) and everyone who is more ardent in following the Messenger then he is more beloved to Allah, however lets ponder and look at the result of loving Allah; Allah did not command the Messenger to say “If you love Allah, follow me and be truthful in that” rather He said

يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ

Allah will love you

and this is the tremendous fruit and result which every person seeks. Hence the reality is that you loving Allah is not the same as you being loved by Allah. Due to this He said,

فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ

then follow me, Allah will love you

Therefore if you were to seek after the Love of Allah and you love Him, then it is upon you to follow the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah upon him).

Is it possible to understand from this verse that the actions of the people of innovation belies their claim of loving the messenger (peace and blessings upon him)?

The answer to this, is yes, because we say, if you truly loved the messenger, you would indeed follow him, and if you truly loved Allah, you would definitely follow the Messenger, and if you truly took him (peace and blessings of Allah upon him) as a leader you would not precede him (i.e. utter statements or perform actions which he did not legislate), and how can he be your leader in reality whilst you oppose him, so where is the following of this leadership?

And due to this blatant opposition, how easy it is to destroy their claims; those who say, you don’t celebrate the birthday of the Prophet, and you don’t perform long extended poetic salaat and salaam and praise upon him,  therefore you don’t love him. So we say in reply to them, Glory be to Allah! Which of us has more right to loving the Messenger?! Those who follow his Sunnah and do not leave it, or those who perform that which he (peace and blessings of Allah upon him) warned against of innovations?! There is no doubt that those who truly love Allah is the first type, and destroying their claims does not require a strong axe, rather it is very easy to destroy.

Why is Your Soul Inclined to a Good or Bad person? Shaykh Uthaymeen

In explanation of the supplication for entering toilet, Shaykh Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) brought the following benefit.

It is said that the place for relieving oneself is dirty, and every place which is similar is the abode of the shayateen, due to His statement The Most High,

الْخَبِيثَاتُ لِلْخَبِيثِينَ وَالْخَبِيثُونَ لِلْخَبِيثَاتِ

Bad statements are for bad people (or bad women for bad men) and bad people for bad statements (or bad men for bad women). (1)

In explanation of this ayah, Imam as-Sadi (rahimahullah) said, “Every evil man and woman, statement and action is fitting, in agreement and similar to each other.” (2)

And this is from the wisdom of Allah, that he has made the evil souls incline to each other. And the righteous souls incline to each other, due to this the place of the angels is the masaajid, the masaajid are righteous places and their purpose is for the worship of Allah.

Soofiyah and it’s Books – Shaykh Uthaymeen

Al-‘Allaamah Al-Faqeeh the Noble Scholar Muhammad ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) was asked regarding the books of the Soofiyah,

He responded, my view with regards to tassawuf is the same as to other than it from that which has been innovated into al-Islaam. The Messenger of Allah clarified this when he said,

“Upon you is my sunnah, and the sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs after me; and be warned of newly innovated matters, for every innovation is misguidance.” (1)

Therefore, tasawwuf (and it’s people) are in opposition to the guidance of the Messenger (peace and blessings upon him), innovation and misguidance is obligatory for the Muslim to stay far away from. He should take his path to Allah from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger.

As for the books of tasawwuf, then it is impermissible to acquire them or review (or read) them, except(2) for an individual (who is qualified to do so; i.e. a person of knowledge) who wants to know what is in them of innovation, so as to refute it; (in this instance) this persons looking through them is of a tremendous benefit.

And this benefit is: refuting this innovation so that the people are safe from it. And this is an affair which is sought after; if the person is safe from deviating by way of these books.

Ruling on the Qur’aniyyoon – Those who reject the Sunnah – Shaykh Saaleh Fawzaan

Honourable Shaykh – May Allāh give you success – this questioner says, What is the ruling on those called Qurāniyūn, those who reject the noble hadīth, and they say we suffice ourselves with the Qurān only?

This is disbelief, this is disbelief in Allāh The Mighty & Majestic because the Hadīth is revelation from Allāh The Mighty & Majestic, it is the second revelation after the Qurān. Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. The speech of the prophet is revelation from Allāh the Mighty & Majestic, the pronouncement is the Messenger’s, however the meaning is from Allāh.

Allah the Mighty and Majestic said [in the Qur’an]: “And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)” 59:7

And this one says, I only take from the Qur’an. “And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it” He says, No, I won’t take. What sort of speech is this?!

What is the Meaning of Hizbiyyah and What is The Ruling Upon It? Shaykh Ubaid Al Jaabiree

A questioner from Germany asks:

“What is the definition of Hizbiyyah and what is its ruling?”

Watch the video for the answer.

Your question O my child from Germany is composed of two parts. The first: concerning the meaning of hizbiyyah and I say you have done well for asking this question. So hizbiyyah is to unite and side with an individual, individuals or a group other than Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah. And it’s possible (the people of hizbiyyah) side themselves with a number of groups. So you find one of them for example, uniting with Jamā’atu-Tablīgh, Jamā’atul-ikhwān, Jamā’atul-jihād or other than them from the present day da’wah affiliated groups that are all deviated and misguide people.

I say this without any reluctance, as this is what I profess as my religion before Allāh.

So you find him (a person of hizbiyyah) making his friendship and allegiance towards those who side with him, a groups of people, a single individual or various individual persons.  He builds his allegiance and enmity based on them.

It was this that Shaykhul-Islām – may Allāh have mercy upon him – signified with his saying, “And whosoever raises for the people a man for whose sake friendship and enmity is formed, then he is  from those who have divided their religion and split into sects” and with this detailed explanation – if Allāh wills – I think you have understood the meaning of hizbiyyah. It is taken from (the word) tahazzub (to form partisanship).

As for the second part and that is your question concerning its ruling – it is an innovation and misguidance. So whoever sides himself with other than the Salafis – and they are the People of Hadīth (prophetic narrations), Ahlul- Athar, (people of narrations), the Victorious Party, the Saved Sect, the People of Sunnah and Jamā’ah (unity).

So this is the reality of despicable hizbiyyah and (one who falls into it) is from those who have divided their religion and split into sects.

Do Not Pray with Those Who Revile Ahlus Sunnah – Shaykh Saaleh al Fawzaan

Q: Oh Noble Scholar – May Allah give you success – this questioner also says, my job is far from my house – a distance of 140 km, And there is a masjid where I pray the Friday prayer, but the khateeb reviles Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah, is it allowed for me to leave the Friday prayer in this masjid, knowing that there are other masaajid, but they are far from my workplace?

A: Do not pray with him whilst he reviles Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah. This is a great evil, do not pray with him. Pray it as dhuhr*, pray it as dhuhr, do not pray it as jumu’ah, except if there was near you another masjid, that you can pray in, and there isn’t any reason prohibiting that, then pray in there, N’am.

* The questioner was a traveller which is why the Shaykh said pray it as dhuhr

Returning to the Truth is Righteousness and Continuing upon an Error is Despicable – Shaykh Rabī

Shaykh Rabī (hafidahullāh) said,

“Many people when they commit an error, or go beyond bounds (ghulū) or commit something (which is dis-praiseworthy), then (in most cases) they do not return (to the truth), and refuge is sought with Allāh.”

What Are the Signs of a Responsive Heart and Unresponsive Heart? Shaykh Uthaymīn

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaykh Uthaymīn was asked:

What are the signs of a responsive heart? And the signs of an unresponsive heart?

Shaykh Uthaymīn:
A sign of a responsive heart, is that it humbles itself to the remembrance of Allāh.

And the sign of an unresponsive heart is that it is not affected by what it hears, from the verses of Allah.

Rejecting The Truth – Shaykh Uthaymīn

Shaykh Uthaymīn (rahimahullaah) explained the outcome for those who reject the truth, based on the tafsir of the following verse:

بَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِي أَمْرٍ مَرِيجٍ

‏Nay, but they have denied the truth (this Qurān) when it has come to them, so they are in a confused state (can not differentiate between right and wrong).
‏Sura Qāf: 5

Shaykh Uthaymīn:

“Likewise every person who rejects the truth the first time, then he should know that he will be trialed with doubts and uncertainty in accepting the truth in the future. Therefore it is obligatory upon us when we hear that this thing is the truth, that we say: “we hear and obey.”
